As the iconic frontman of Pantera, Philip Anselmo sang on six of the Texas metal juggernaut's albums: 1988's self-released offering, 'Power Metal,' plus their five classic major-label LPs, 'Cowboys From Hell,' 'Vulgar Display of Power,' 'Far Beyond Driven,' 'The Great Southern Trendkill' and 'Reinventing the Steel.' We recently talked to Anselmo and got him to pick his five favorite Pantera songs. His choices might surprise you.

I'd pay for a multi hour documentary with Phil and rex talking about each record.

I feel sad that nobody is talking about Phil; His vocals were badass when needed, and soothing the other time. The whole band was perfect, Dime, Vinnie, Rex, oh man, they kicked
  • @mattwatts33
Phil really misses Vince, Dime and Pantera. More than we will ever know.

I always said “people don’t realize how massive Pantera was (is)”. They had a number one fucking album in the height of the grunge scene. When everyone was saying “metal is dead” Phil and the boys were feeding the world some dick. The Kings Of Metal. Make no fucking mistake. 🤘🏻
  • “Do you hear Rex’s bass? !Answer me! Do you hear the fucking bass!?” Will never get old. Will always get me in the zone.
  • Phil is one of the best singer/frontman ever ! He slipped into addiction and it all ended in a really bad way, but I'm happy he came back to life !
  • Jesus Christ ever since I caught Pantera doing live shows again on YouTube I've been on a full blown Pantera binge again. I can't stop. Their music's in my bones man. I'm a lifer.
  • I love Phil's heart. Dude spent years trying to escape his feelings. Now that he's older he seems pretty comfortable with them. It's awesome.

You can see how Phil is in a special moment in his life, I've been noticing this for some years from now, don't know what happen or happened to him but I feel like he is in very deep touch with life with himself and others, I have the feeling like he is a very spiritual person
  • @TheStygianWolf1
Kind of disappointed he didn't have anything on The Great Southern Trendkill. Its a fuckin masterpiece in its totality.
