I saw early development Mid-day. Took some Time Lapse Video of the Super Cells.
Than saw the RADAR and chased the center of it.
Torrential downpours and Many #lightning strikes reported.
Flash flooding ensued in some areas.

Born and raised in Alberta - almost 43 years now. Have always had epic storms in July - only difference now is, everyone has a camera in their pocket and a voice.

Stay safe. We have experience with massive thunderstorm cells as we have crossed Canada from BC to Ontario more than once. I can remember being in Calgary for the Stampede in 2016. We went to the Zach Brown concert on the Friday night and had so much rain on Saturday, we could not get on the bus to get to the Stampede. Our cowboy boots were full of water. We ended up running back to the rig and trying to stay dry and warm. We still have the white cowboy hats that we never used to this day. We were lucky to have been camping at the time in an RV campground near the World's Fair site on a slope so the water was flowing away from our rig. Then it stopped raining, the sun came out, and we went on to Jasper National Park. It was an amazing trip.

High ceiling funnel clouds but no tornado warnings in this supercell. Lots of flash flooding big hail but no touchdowns. No multivortices in this broad supercell structure. Just quite a few lowerings. Had potential but it didn't produce. It eventually became outflow dominant.

I hope that rain falls on the fires you have out there in Canada too. Be careful. Its not a good idea to be chasing a cloud that might produce a tornado, especially if you (seem to be) standing under a tree & very near high power lines! ❗You don't ever know which direction a tornado is going to move. Your life is worth more than catching a twister on film. And be especially careful if the sky turns a weird shade of yellow or green - that can mean a tornado too I believe. Luckily that cloud was just a cloud and not a tornado. Please be safe Mike. Don't take risks like that. And lightning likes to hit trees too. One time here in my city a teenage boy was waiting for the bus under a big tree and a branch broke off and fell on him. He was crippled. Totally changed his life. Trees attract lightning. 🌩
