Raus IAS' library incident. Here's exactly what has happened: Raus IAS has constructed a basement library in their main building in Old rajinder nagar Delhi. Incident is of around 6pm, 27 July, police was informed at 7:19pm yesterday, police was informed that, due to the burst of rain, roads in the ORN market especially around Vajiram, Raus got clogged within 10 mins due to poor drainage. Raus library (along with so many others basement libraries in ORN) have biometric seal packed doors for entrance. Due to the short circuit, whole building light was cut (or someone from management manually did due to fear of electrocution - which happened with Nilesh Rai a UPSC aspirant, a couple days ago). This led to jamming of library door. Students got trapped inside the library in darkness. The water level increased drastically. This led to jamming of library door. Water level increased drastically in the ground floor outside library due to pathetic drainage system of MCD That single door which was keeping students safe got broken due to increased water pressure of outside and within a minute the whole basement was filled with drainage water. All students got submerged at once, with no way out. Since the morning, rescue is underway. 3 bodies have been recovered as of Indian Express report, while allegedly there are 10+ dead students and there are many unaccounted for.

I would like to add a point about reservations, as a political science student. It is true that reservations were introduced to uplift the social and financial status of underprivileged communities. But, The Supreme Court, in the case of Indra Sawhney v. Union of India (1992), noted that reservations should cease for a family once a member has benefited from it and is financially stable.
