It is a coolant overflow. Coolant expands as it heats up and needs to go somewhere. Most rigs have catch can or overflow bottle as it heats it goes in there and then when it cools it can draw it back in.
  • @johnnydoe7089
3 minutes of idle allows the engine and the turbo to cool down. You were climbing mountains and working the engine and turbo hard so the temp was raised and you did not let it cool down before you shut it down.
  • what i was told years ago on a diesel excursion and i remind you i am not a mechanic, but to start it and let it run for a minute or so before putting in gear, and when you come to a stop let it run for a minute or two before stopping the engine. Also call that bus company and just ask them about the coolant issue.. might be normal then again, who know.. but they will know for sure.
  • @selador11
Yup. Coolant overflow. Get some kind of container mounted in there, for the overflow to flow into. It'll suck it back up, if it needs it. Curtains. So sew the reflectix to the curtains. You are correct, the relectix is much better than just curtains.
  • @JohnDunn1969
I have driven a lot of big vehicles you do need to let them run for about three minutes before you shut down.😀
  • @Tony7022
Get the air fryer, we use ours all the time. Get the Ninja with the crock pot and quick cook features. Little more money but more versatile
  • @Technocrat.
Yep over pressure escape hose. Most vehicles have a coolant tank, where it runs into and then sucks it back up when it needs more.

I starteded thinking about the oil & turbo when I turn off the truck. If the turbo is going to be hot from working hard, shut off the truck, that oil around the turbo is going to cook and degrade, as well as not help the turbo. I always give some good idle time. Everything needs the fluids to continue to flow and help disipate heat. Transmission, turbo, coolant. When in doubt let it idle. 10-15 minutes even.

Hey guys, it looks like your trip is going to be a blast. Two things, first the air fryer is great to have for things that usually go in a deep fryer it can't replace a stovetop. And second that Midea A/C unit is the bomb I purchased one of those about 10 years ago for a friend in Vegas and it cools a room that's 14 by 14 and is still working today and you know how hot it gets in Vegas. You could fit it in the bulkhead above your bed in the back and paint it Lenny grey. enjoy your trip and be safe.

Have you (of all people I thought you would) contacted Blue Bird Manufacturing in Georgia about a use/maintenance manual? Did you see someone (RV with Tito maybe?) sew reflectix into a roll up shade material? Looked nice. Think Lenny would look OK with silver in the windows with his color. Too bad you didn't have time to go up to Flathead Lake, pretty there. Something sexy about silver trailers, Avions are man magnets...not a bad thing heh naughty me heh. Right now I cook everything in my Galanz microwave/convection/air fryer combo $100 from Walmart. Keeping it even tho will have a real electric stove/oven in future Avion home. Million RVs and Skoolies and vintage autos passing through of late here, quite fun although two Avions almost made me drive off the road lookin' 😀
  • @BrianAz
I think you figure it out that it just the overflow line for the coolant and by the comments I see that its pretty unanimous. Our old truck had one that spilled onto the ground but these days its caught in an overflow bottle. The cool down makes sense! We even do that with the helicopters where we had a minute cool down at idle. Hard to believe it cools down the engine that much but it does. I think that your idle cool down has indeed solved the problem. Technocrat might have a good point too as that coolant cap may need replaced, but I have no clue. An engine warm up may be something to consider too, I swear I read something about that as well... hmmmm. I STILL have not been able to see and Oliver trailer in person. We are waiting to see a Bigfoot trailer, which if fiberglass as well, when one shows up locally. Sure would like to see one in person. Safe travels!

I ended up getting the Dreo Chefmaker, because it has an "AI Chef" feature, and it does awesome with steaks.
  • @selador11
Buy more coolant on your next stop. Just because! Always have at least two bottles, even if you don't think you need it.
  • @chrisfannin5708
Might want to check for fuel in the coolant that seemed like alot that it spit out
  • @Technocrat.
Also, could be the Radiator coolant cap spring is getting old and allowing coolant to escape too early.
  • @SI-lg2vp
Amsoil make a coolant boost that will lower the coolant temps. I've used it and it works great.

Touchy subject to bring up, especially for the male sector, but maybe Lenny needs to wear Depends briefs occasionally. I think they come in grey so it'll blend in and if you're asked about it you can indicate: "It's an environmental precaution".
