And...thanks to the Volumes Bookstore newsletter I realized I forgot Exhibit by R.O. Kwon 😭 I loved the Incendiaries and have been excited about her follow up project so will definitely be checking it out!
  • Ok the only one we're overlapping on is Ministry of Time, but I'm really excited for Challenger by Adam Higginbotham (same author who did the Chernobyl history albeit I haven't read that one either lol) for nonfiction. For fiction, I wanna get to Summer Fridays by Suzanna Rindell (idk I just always seem to like romcoms set in NYC) and I Hope This Finds You Well by Natalie Sue! So many books, so little time!
  • I’ve also been in a reading slump, I’ve only finished one book since early April. Just cracked open my first one from indie bookstore day though so hopefully I get back in the swing! As far as cozy fantasy, I honestly don’t really recommend Legends and Lattes. I don’t think the story or character work were very good, and I think the author relies on the familiarity of DnD tropes for coziness. Which would be fine if it was that AND a compelling plot, but there just wasn’t much there. I really was the target audience for this book, but it didn’t do much for me. Cozy fantasy I have liked: Thornhedge by T Kingfisher, and I think A Psalm for the Wild-Built counts too. Woodworm sounds awesome, and Honey Witch is already on my tbr. Dreadful sounds like it was written for me!
