  • The best feeling in the world is to not have debt. Dan is right, you'll sleep so much better at night and spend your days care free.
  • @MereAYT
It shouldn't cost so much just to be alive and unhappy.
  • Dan, eating out has gotten so expensive that my wife and I have stopped eating out. We have not eaten out since January 1, 2024.
  • THE OLYMPICS? ARE YOU KIDDING? -- that opening ceremony was DEMONIC! the mockery of The Last Supper - The pale horse, the golden bull head???? - no - no - NO! I'll not be watching the Olympics
  • I am a motor head. I love muscle cars, and pickup trucks. I also like dependable everyday cars and the best ones are Toyota and Honda. Guy like me won't deny it. It's good to have one that's old, and dinged up with faded paint. You won't stand out and people think you are poor.
  • Housing crisis, health crisis, cost of living crisis, debt crisis, inflation crisis, EU war crisis, middle East crisis, bank crisis, retirement crisis. How many crises can a koala bear?
  • OK, Governor Newsom is going to clean out the homeless camps: but, where are these homeless people going to? They are not just going to disappear.

It's one thing to have money for a rainy day, but it's been a rainy couple of years.
  • @cicicorleo
If anyone is still confused about the type of leadership we have currently, just listen to the Congressional hearing on the secret service director. That basically sums it up regarding the complete incompetence.

If you are not in the financial market space right now, you are making a huge mistake. I understand that it could be due to ignorance, but if you want to make your money work for you...prevent inflation
  • My son in law got laid off from Google they move his work to India
  • @dmark6699
Tax increases only fix the problem till the next tax increase.
  • @fredk9999
Never “govern smarter:” instead, raise taxes

Politics poisons everything. Now almost everything is political…sports are political, the entertainment industry is political, Disneyland is political, education is political…and so on.
  • My raise for a year of working, showing up being honest ..$.25 cents. Insulting....
  • This is the cost of living beyond your means. It finally caught up with us. I guess the piper really must be paid.

I do not know how many ppl on fixed income are making it. I suspect they have begun to budget income on necessities, and probably some are skimping on cheaper eats such as pasta and the like. Unfortunately I fear that govt will make things worse, as they have an incentive to monetize the debt; inflation makes it easier to pay those obligations. I believe things will get much worse, to the point that even upper middle income folks have to cut corners. Lots of businesses will fail, and more unemployment coming. God help us through this time.

Same thing up here in Canada, Dan. Don't know about other people but I'm also "stuck". There's no way in heck I can afford to sell this house and move. Besides where I am isn't SO bad. Many other places are much worse. Where would I move to that's better than where I am. And if I did sell I would have to move MUCH farther north before I could afford to buy another house. At my age I'm not prepared to do that. I'm a senior living on a fixed income and for me to sell and move doesn't make much sense. My house is paid off. I have a little money in the bank. I can still pay my bills. Don't have a credit card. Don't need one. Don't have a car so I don't have THOSE associated costs. Don't really need a car. Able to get around quite well using public transit. So from my point of view I'm sitting in the catbird seat. Still fairly healthy. Still able to exercise every day. But I could stand to lose a little weight. A work in progress. ;)
