My thoughts and what could be the Grenadier's Achilles' heel. One of the last places in the world to get to see the Grenadier is Western Australia. I finally get to see it and these are my first impressions.
Australian GVM is 50Kg higher than stated.

Australian buyers will be interested to know that Ineos has requested a exemption from Luxury Car Tax for the Australian market. This may result in savings of up to $10,000 then ordering the Trialmaster or Fieldmaster. Fingers cross.

Andrew, Ineos has listened to the public and has indicated the rear wheel arch in the back will be flat. They stated you can put a drink on it and it will not slide off.

Land Rover missed the mark so badly they inspired a new company.

I sat in the USA one which is not driveable, but was told the interior was pretty close to final. I was really impressed. And by that I also include being impressed that a company is willing to let people get so intimate with prototypes. I like the way they have gone about the whole project from a marketing point of view. Very open and honest here. If they cannot answer, they say they cannot answer. I work with prototype things, and the way they are approaching it is rare.

I was loving the look of the Grenadier... Then Andrew's Troopy pulled up next to it! Such a great looking build.

No vehicle is perfect. I can easily see myself in one of these. Especially when compared to other modern 4x4s.
  • @BeowulfHagen
AluCab has admitted to working with the Ineos engineers to try and fit one of the conversion tops. It will make it even more useable and customizable like a Troopy.

I think for v1 effort it is pretty damned good. They will tweak things as they go (they seem to be quite good at listening) and v2 and v3 will be even better. I've had 25 years of Defenders, but the 'New Defender' caused me to go out and buy a 78 Troopy. We'll see how the dealer support pans out, but I'd consider one, for sure. As long as one of the ARB/TJM/etc companies comes up with a solid line of accessories I think it's going to go great guns. All it has to be is RELIABLE and they will sell hundreds/thousands.

REALLY looking forward to your Grenadier build series, Andrew.

I have wired in Auxiliary switches in the Rubicon. It’s great, it makes wiring so easy and keeping the factory switches keeps the cabin neat.
  • I have been waiting for this quick review to happen. Hope you can get your hands on a production unit later on and do an in depth review. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
  • I have a feeling we will be seeing a few of these up here in Kimberley in good time, most farmers use landcruisers and amarocks so I think these will be a good change and do a better job than what's currently on the market

Thank you, a very good review, I agree with your comments, I’ve today been on a test drive ( I was front seat passenger) at the Allrad und Arbentaur show in Germany, My own car is a well prepared 80 series, so to compare, the grenadier is a very worthy replacement, I loved it. Well done Ineos.
  • @mark2073
Well Andrew given your job is building up 4WD's for overlanding, I don't think you would be complete without one. Sooner or later you will buy one.
  • @Fr3dinator
Got to sit in this exact prototype earlier this year at the Melbourne f1 gp and instantly fell in love. Very cool vehicle can't wait to see how the finished product comes out.
  • @drewrichmond1440
Probably the most honest content maker on youtube. Love how straight up you are in all your videos Andrew.
  • @woolengrappler
I’m glad the wheel well arches will be squared off. I also hope they go with a 40/20/40 rear seat split. It’s so handy to be able to run long items between two rear seat passengers.
  • Seen it twice now and been a passenger in it. Andrew, rear wheel arch internally has been flattened. Looking forward to another viewing end of May at the NEC Commercial vehicle show. Hopefully a two seat commercial van varient. Second deposit stage of £2000 secures your build slot opens tomorrow in UK. I have reservations about that footwell too, also the load space height, from ground to floor as a work vehicle.
