How to make mini spot welding using 9V batteries and capacitor

What a life saver, the amount of times I've cut tin foil too small for the baking tray. Had to throw it away and cut another piece. Now I can just spot weld some extra on.

The electrolytic capacitor voltage should be chosen above 27, it cannot be selected lower than the operating voltage. If 27 volt DC was obtained with a high amperage battery instead of a 9 volt battery and given to a 25 volt capacitor, the capacitor could be damaged by swelling, it would be more appropriate to choose 50 volts. Also, I think that the selected foil strips are very thin and the same welding process could not be done with the slightly thicker ones. This process cannot be done for a very long time with these batteries, because the battery poles are also short-circuited with the capacitor in spotting, at this moment the battery connection with a switch should have been disabled, in my opinion. The most suitable for home may be the form of changing the winding with transformers taken from microwave scrap and applying the high amperage to the strips to be welded by hand mechanism. Are you really using solder as hookup wire? Wouldn’t that melt under the high current load of something like, say, a spot welder? 🤔 Oh and the cap is under-rated

Cool video but I think I'll just get a bigger piece of aluminum foil but still nonetheless pretty cool.. P.s. if you put one electrode on one sheet and touch the other one to the other sheet you should get a better weld as the electricity will flow from one piece to the other instead of the same piece to the same piece and counting on heat to make them stick. Most likely the tension is too much and the electrodes are too sharp. You could possibly try to parallel the 3 9v batteries, so as to have a lower voltage but a higher current; moreover, also the condenser could work below the maximum voltage parameters. It may be good in schools to explain to the kids basically how spot welding works and let them have some fun without risking them.

You can get the same effect by just pucturing the two tin foils together with the electrode without any current. They will "stick" together as strong as you have shown in this video LOL
