  • Mirkwood wasnt Mirkwood (it was a pleasant forest called Greenwood) until Sauron immigrated to Dol Guldur after he was defeated by the Last Alliance.

An error from Ryan here in the idea that Gimli expected Moria to still be a going concern. Gimli expected that Balin had taken Moria, after the events of the Hobbit, thousands of years later. The fall of Moria, and the existence of *something*, not necessarily a Balrog, known as Durin's bane, was well established.

Small thing but Ryan said twice that it's been 3 years. Season 1 was released in September of 22. It will be a little less than 2 years when season 2 comes out.

I still hold out hope that the Stranger is one of the Blue Wizards: Alatar and Pallando! 🧙‍♂🧙‍♂

Doug being genuinely hurt and going through so many emotions until he gets to calm is exactly what i needed. I felt for him 😂 One of the funniest moments of this show. 🤣 😂 hands down.
  • I enjoyed season one and am excited for season 2. I may rewatch the 1st season again right before.
  • @Shonta06
“This orc is licking his blade.” So much lore. 😂
  • @gusteg83
Sauron didn't help making the THREE rings. "They were never touched by him"

That side break by Doug about Roadhouse was awesome 😂😂😂
  • 4:11 Gimli knows about the fall of Moria. After Hobit, Balin tries to repopulate Moria but it has failed and Gimli doesn't know that. That's why he thinks Moria Is a working operation.

Thinking the stranger is one of the blue wizards. You pointed out Gandalf arrived much later than this & pointed out that the stranger is far in the east. The blue wizards arrived long before Gandalf & headed east, later returning west only to be sent east again by Saruman. The stranger is doing everything that the blue wizards are meant to do. Also, the staff “thing” isn’t exclusive to Gandalf, it’s reasonable to assume all 5 wizards would use the same actions for spells as we know they each had a staff from Saruman asking Gandalf if he demanded the 5 Staffs in Return of the King

The Doug rant is my new favorite Screen Crush moment!!😂😂
  • @theibault
Coming this summer, Doug stars in the remake of the remake of Roadhouse!!!
  • I’d love some of you to have been alive in the 80’s when Fantasy and Sci-fi had the budget of a thimble. And when I could only dream of them actually adapting my favourite book beyond a cartoon that only covered half of it. So not only have I had three amazing films, another three good films (The Hobbit should have been two films) and a series based on the appendices and other writings that I read and thought “I’d love to see this adapted one day” and now that’s what we are getting, and whilst Tolkien himself didn’t go into detail but sketched out with dates and events. Only when we get to Numenor do we get anything of any weight. So as kong as they hit the right event "beats" they can fill in the rest to make it an entertaining narrative. I enjoyed S1, it introduced characters, worlds, a mystery that kept people thinking, and culminated with a revelation, a huge setpiece and an important part of Tolkien's lore in the forging of the three Elven Rings.
S2 will build on that, and there are several events that should take place during this season and by this trailer probably will.

I also don't agree that S1 was too focused on "who is Sauron". I think the audience was focused on that and groupthinked themselves into following that line as part of the hate train. But Galadriel was the only person seeking Sauron, and there were a lot of plot threads without him.
  • @drexel5146
What was sillier...Galadriel and her crew sailing all the way to the undying lands in some "At attention" Pose....or her thinking she could swim back to middle earth with no water?
