Getting Aggressive With Mercy

I was playing a quickplay match, on the Route 66 map. The other team had us pinned down in the spawn and my teams DPS and tanks were not working together at all. I came to the realization that we would need more offense to progress beyond the spawn.
Should I swith to a DPS or tank character since I know I can't depend on my teammates? But thar would leave my team without a healer... And I am a dedicated healer.
So I decided to use Mercy more offensively than I normally do.
