  • Thanks. I've recently begun restoring abandoned small engines for fun and learning. This channel and Steve's Saloon have been invaluable.

I really appreciate you showing how to fix my surging Cub Cadet RT-65 Kohler engine. I bought it used and thought I was going to have to take it to a shop to be fixed. I did exactly as you said and it runs great now. Thank you!

I have to say that this works. I’m a success story. I own a power washer with a Honda engine like the one on the video. It has been surging for a long time. I used the micro drill bits that Taryl recommended. I went up two sizes (one size didn’t seem like enough) and the engine no longer surges. However, it now runs on full throttle regardless of the position of the throttle lever. Therefore, I believe that I over did it. Use the next size up and no more and then run the engine for awhile. Then, if you need to use a larger diameter drill bit you can do so but you can never go back.

Thanks for the tip Taryl!!! Just fixed a riding mower for a friend, that was surging or warffling...and runs like a singer now. Had to disassemble the carb to get to the jet though. Blew everything out with compressed air and reassembled...and bam...it runs great. thanks again.

I just started as a small engine mechanic. I use your channel for professional education. Keep 'em coming! Love it.

I say old chap, jolly useful video. This helped me get my old lawnmower running properly after struggling with hunting and surging all last season. Many thanks from across the pond :)

It's now 2 1/2 years later, April 25, 2020 and I got a generator to quit surging and it was surging badly.... Taryl IS the gift that keeps on giving. Like Taryl showed, I cleaned the low speed jet on an old 10 hp Tecumseh and now it's running like it should. Thank you so much.
  • @bigrubberman75
Thanks Taryl . I cleaned the carb on a wood splitter out in the field in about 20 mins. ( Dads mind blown.)
  • @super8guy
Great to have you back Taryl. Your absence was much more difficult to bear than Colberts'. Hope you're well rested and I look fwd to many more entertaining vids.

Thanks Taryl. Just fixed my surging Briggs Quantum engine. Had a mixture screw on the carb so just opened it up a bit. Smooth running now. Much appreciated, Wayne from England

We updated and re-uploaded 2 older videos regarding Carburetors for information and production purposes. We pulled the old listings. Yes, many of you have seen this one already but not fixed up as it is. Now There's Your Dinner!!

Dear Taryl I fixed my nabours mower today, thanks to you my Man.
  • You are the man. Thank you so much. I pulled the low speed jet out of my clone engine and cleaned out the jet with one bristle from a welding brush. Reinstalled everything and the motor runs perfect. Thank you so much.

Thanks again Taryl! Got a set of 0-80 drill bits, a "57" did it for me on my 10HP Briggs Gen - got a $18 carburetor to work like a new OEM one... I rebuilt my LMT 172 but it's nice to have a spare :)

This is the best skit yet. “The big pond...in Grissom County?”

Thank you brother! I'll be using grandmas complete micro drill bit set. She was a Rosie Riveter for WW 2 aircraft and "acquisitioned" some left over drill bits that fell on the floor. lol Thanks again!

Wow! Been trying to figure out my surging issue for a while and I’ve looked at a lot of really complicated “solutions” that, as a Harry homeowner, did not look like a solution to what I thought was or should be something easy. My gen is fired up once a month at least and run with load occasionally on ethanol free fuel. When it started acting up last summer I thought no way this thing should be having an issue. You sir gave me the easiest to try solution and it worked like a charm. However, I just used some really tiny stranded wire and kept adding more until no more would go. Backed off one wire and spun around a bit with some cleaner. Put it back in and we are in perfect working order! Literally took me 10 minutes and most of that was trying to find the wire. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!

this helped on my almost brand new Champion 4500/3650 RV generator yesterday , other Champion carb cleaning videos totally missed the low idle jet, ......... after cleaning it and putting fresh gas in it , it ran perfect again and since Champion had already sold me a brand new carb for it making it sound like i was stuck with the surging , thanks to you its still sitting in the box .... Thanks
