This is a singles set between me and Govind Nanda! Govind is a pro tennis playing on tour right now, ranked #388 in the world as of this video. Obviously there's a big difference in level here so he was nice enough to mix the points up with some easier playing and some regular playing. I play mostly from the baseline while Govind is probably more of an all court player. Hope you enjoy it! And give Govind a thanks in the comments below for being a great sport and playing this set with me for content!

This is highly illustrative for the Joes vs Pros survey on Tennis Channel in which average tennis players were asked if they could take a game off a pro and the great majority said yes, yes they could, LOL. Winston is a very good 4.5 or even better - he is a legit good amateur/club player who has invested thousands of hours seriously trying to improve his game and is better than 99% of regular "park" players who are way better than occasional players. He can barely hope for a game off of Govind, who, is a brilliant player but TBH, is a rusty, low-level pro.
  • Definitely felt like Govind was holding back, what a beast.
  • Thank you for posting this! Probably the best thing I've seen so far to really demonstrate the difference between a really good rec player and even Challenger-level pros, because it's so hard to really tell that watching the pros play on TV (or even in person). The takeaways: 1. The level of fitness is insane. Govind gets to EVERYTHING; I can't even count the number of shots you hit that would either be winners or easy pop-ups if you were playing even the top players at your own level. 2. He takes a ball inside the baseline and the point is pretty much over. 3. Precision. Almost every rally, he'd hit at least one ball that would be "shot of the match" for a rec player. Clear winners on regular balls five feet behind the baseline and constantly painting lines. 4. Dude is 5'10" and was acing you like John Isner. The difference in pace and, again, precision is ridiculous.
  • love how chill Govind is. Hope he turns up and breaks the top 150
  • The fact that you took a game from a professional player is an incredible achievement. In the ground stroke rallies you did really well. The big (obvious) difference is the serve. You couldn't hurt him at all while he was hitting aces all over the place. I think he held back a little on the returns to get into some rallying. All in all a very decent match that you can be proud of.
  • One of my favorite tennis videos ever. Perfect intro, clean angle and editing, two guys having a blast while playing killer tennis, perfect outro. Rooting for both of you. Thanks so much for sharing!
  • Thank you Govind and Winston for the content. Winston, I think you played better this match than any other match I've watched of yours. You did really well in the rallies considering the skill level difference. Super nice of Govind to do this for content!
  • I love watching tennis from this angle. It makes you feel as if you are playing as well. Great video! I am mainly into BJJ now and only play tennis once every few months, but this reminded me how much I loved to play.
  • just rewatched this and love how govind still enjoys tennis at this level. Dude is genuinely playing like he is with friends from high school, just chillin and having a great time.
  • Good stuff, Winston! It's amazing how good these pros are and you held your own a lot better than most of us would. Keep it up!
  • God. Watching Govind’s forehands and serve make me so jealous. Super clean hitting and that sound - you know they’re solid shots!
  • So clean. Professionals are on another level, and it’s nice seeing you improve too!
  • So proud of you Winston. Epic hitting with Govind, who is obviously super accomplished. Gold content. 50k is super close! Cheers and thank you for sharing this with us. M
  • Love how you get out there and compete! So many players want to spend all of their time practicing technique. Naturally, that is an essential aspect of training, but without the consistent element of match play (with a wide variety of opponents) you never reach your peak potential. Seeing you get out here an mix it up on court is a great lesson for all competitive minded players. Keep up the good work!
  • @cory6279
Loved the increase in pace on your shots Winston. Also your footwork is looking wayy better, good stuff
  • Super cool to watch Govind play. Hope you can play well in the Challengers / ITFs. You can tell he was being a good sport and great guy all-around. The FH would be unreal to see it in action. Thanks Winston for the nice video. If you get the opportunity, it would be cool to see Stevie and Govind play a set or two.
  • @ayokay123
