When your Boricua ears hear the distinctive coquí and your chest feels with pride, nostalgia and glee all at the same time! Just 4 more days and I’ll be hearing it in person! Can’t wait for Navidad in my island again after 9 years! That emerald green tiny rock on earth is preciosa!

As a Puerto Rican, I grew up in its mountainous countryside and this video just satisfied me with happiness

My lungs feel better just watching that hike: cleaner and healthier. I'd like to stand there and just inhale deeply.
  • El Yunque is also one of the oldest national reserves in the entire western hemisphere (stablished 4 years after yellow stone), stablished by King Alfonso XII in 1876 it was declared a protected area.

I just went hiking here yesterday. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to in my entire life

The sad part is that this video is focused on a specific location of the island. while many americans and international wealthy people destroy other parts of the island to build hotels and expensive structures that drive out the local communities out of their area due to the rise in living prices.

People need farming they have to eat.But rainforest are important for a healthy world as well. There has to be a balance.
  • My backyard when I was growing up. Loved waking up to the forest view of El Yunque for so many years. Such a special place. Viva Puerto Rico! <3

    Beautiful Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 😍

I am a landowner in the mountains of western Puerto Rico. A good part of my land was too steep for farming, so the original rain forest remained untouched. For ten years I have allowed and encouraged the other parts of my land, once in coffee, to regenerate. In the tropics this regeneration is fast, so when I leave this life, nature will remain in charge of the land. Puerto Ricp is now heavily forested and healed, and many new land owners want to protect the forests. It will take much longer to grow the ancient huge trees, but they are returning!
