I looked at all of the options for a fresh look: paint, vinyl wrap, stock graphics. In the end I was just itching to get on with it and I grabbed whatever vinyl was on hand. For the pattern I just went with what felt good. You will see in the video that I would lay down a section and if it didn't look right I would just peel it off and star over. In a few cases I trimmed back an existing shape to make it fit better with the overall theme.

plus a heat gun, plastic squeegee and exact-o blade to remove all bubbles from the vinyl. absolutely awesome work on the gel coat restoration and decal removal top notch.

I use a hair dryer on the decal and once they're nice and warm to the touch I then use a hard plastic 2 inch scraper to lift an edge. Sometimes you may only need your finger nail. Keep the hair dryer blowing on it while slowly peeling off the decal. Fast and easy. If there is some glue residue left on the hull, I use acetone to remove it. I don't use a razor blade or anything metal, as it may gouge the gel coat.

Thanks for sending me over to your page for the great ideas. We were thinking about doing something like this but your method is much better than what I was thinking of. Our SeaDoo and Jet Ski both need a bit of hull repair before we put graphics on them.

I see the bubbles and creases, like in the large grey patch under the left side of the seat, so I know the camera makes it look a little better.......but it did make a great improvement. The other ski that has the all black setup looks amazing. 20 years newer.

Nice video, if you have to remove that many decals again look into getting a 3m eraser wheel. Throw it on a drill or air drill and go to town. No need to use razor blades and solvent

I’ve used Fast Orange hand cleaner with pumice to bring back the color on plastic parts. It’s very fine and leaves a smooth surface. I bought a 98 Waveraider and the mirrors were black. No more than ten minutes after I started they were bright yellow again.
