In the Feeding Clinic, 35-stone Michael swaps meals with Superskinny air steward Sam who weighs eight and a half stone. Before Michael and Sam enter the feeding clinic, Dr Christian Jessen sends Michael to America to meet Jeff, an ex-hunter and fisherman who, at over 40 stone, can now barely get out of his house.

Each of the participants eat the diet of the other. At the end of the experiment, they have a better idea of how extreme their consumption looks to another person. Every episode I saw had the participants sharing an experience that gave them empathy for other that usually didn't exist before. At the follow-up after the end of the experiment, they were true friends who relied on each other for encouragement. I can think of only one show where a participant had gained weight. All of the others were successful in following their program.

"Don't apologise mate that is why we both here for, wake up call" that line won my heart. Such respect for each other

Sometimes the people on this show are really irritating, the “skinny” ones always act superior and the “super-size” don’t see their problems. But these two are really sweet and seem to actually care for each other’s outcome.
  • So I'm going to weigh in here! (get it 😂) Hi everyone it's Sam here! For those that are asking, yes Michael and I are still friends! He has lost but not as much as planned and I have gained... But not as much as planned. I still struggle with food quite alot, but I've made it a priority and I've really had to get in a different mindset towards it. I still haven't got the body that I want, that requires going to the gym and... I can't be bothered! 😂 I'm also a pro with a knife and fork these days! Wishing everyone luck on their own journeys, get your mind in the right place (which is a hell of alot of harder to do than it is to type in here) and everything will fall into place with diet. Peace ✌️

He says "sorry," when he had nothing to feed his supersize meal buddy, "you're a nice guy, you deserve to eat something" sorta, and I thought he ought to say that to himself. He deserves to eat. He needs a meal. If you think of yourself as someone else, who's lovely and kind and sweet, and you don't feed them or let them sleep, you don't look after them, that's how some people need to learn to look after themselves.

I love how they send them to America to scare them about being fat
  • @boketto9091
Love how for “shock treatment” they just send them to America.

The guy who was there to warn Michael about the effects of being over-weight was such a sweetheart. Really breaks my heart he's going through that.

I can't believe Michael is 29. I initially thought he is close to 40. He would look (and feel) like a brand new person if he would lose all that weight.

this show somehow makes me want to eat and not eat at the same time...

I’ve found myself binge watching these again for months now, never a good sign for my mental health… means I’m at rock bottom again. I see a lot of people here do the same. Sending love and light to everyone who needs it xo

LOL him kissing his head when he got food they’re both so sweet. I hope they both reach there goals

Usually when I watch this show I hate the interactions between the two people swapping meals but these two were actually really respectful to each other and it was enjoyable to watch.
  • @katie1546
i think this is the first super skinny man who doesn’t live off energy drinks lol

I love the way Sam piled all the food up on the plate to try to give Michael a better visual of his portions. He did it without any judgement, and seemed like he was genuinely trying to find ways to help show Michael his portion sizes. It made me miss the food tubes from the previous seasons because even though I hated watching them waste food that way I think it really helped all of Dr Jessen's patients understand their portion sizes and lack of variety/veggies
  • I'm so happy for such a male centric episode, truly. Yes, women are far more affected by disordered eating because of societal pressures, but because of that, I feel like there is such stigma around men asking for help. I'm happy that they were able to find support in one another.

I do admire him for having not one but three jobs, being that size.

normal people: i weigh 60kg brittish people: i weigh 20 stones or 103 cups of tea or 2.4 queens and 2 sticks
  • Michael seems like such a sweet soul. I really hope he can make progress. Sending nothing but love to those at both ends of this spectrum.
  • I would love to see a "healthy diet for both for a week, at the same table". We see the "meal swap" but we never see the actual healthy meal. I wish all the lovely people in this series all the best. I hope that someone helps Jeff too.
