Connecting with your children like that is a better birthday gift than any object you could possibly receive.
  • @kwillis7779
Happy HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Thank you for all your gifts to all of us. Be well. Cheers!

You're a very fortunate man in a world of hurt. Finding and living one's passion is bliss. Happy birthday Mr. Beato.

Rick Beato about to go into his conducting era at 62, love to see it!
  • It is passion not obsession. Obsessions cause harm. You are genuinely passionate about music of all genres, that is a gift. All the best on your 62nd Bday!

I get you. My grandfather had this 60's record of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. I'm 57 so when I was in my late 20's, early 30's I tried to get it as a CD. Name whoever you want from Itzhak to Joshua and anyone in between. Didn't sound as good as that 60's version by Ruggiero Ricci. It was never found or re-edited as a CD in the 90's (don't know about now). I spent, really, months searching for it the in the late 2000's, until I found a blog from a form classical musician from a serious Philarmonic/Symphonic orchestra. He would post about... music! And he posted a blog about that recording. Not for free download... But he transfered that very recording into digital. "You want it? Tell me why..." I sent him a message and practically describred him my granpa's album cover. Told him how much that record meant to me and how, literally, I wore it out. Two months later, he sent me the download. I coul hear the needle on the vynil.. Yes, it's about everyone's ear.... I guess. Greetings, from Guadalajara, Mx Ed: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

The nuances of different recordings is such a big thing!! I'm so glad someone else gets it. I play classical piano and pipe organ and the number of times I hear a recording and find something off just really gets to me. But then, you find that one recording that just does something so right that it blows your mind. Happy birthday Rick. Glad you and Layla got to share this moment.
  • For people who hold music as one of the centers of our daily universe, this seems perfectly normal. The heart of your great story, is that your daughter is carrying on your love of music...that is fantastic beyond words.

Man this was one of the best simple videos you've made! It's so truthful and honest and it presents the short story of driving your daughter to school and interacting with her in a beautiful simple way. This video is well ballanced and it comes full circle in the end. It could easily be a standalone short film. We as viewers also interact by listening closely to every different interpretation and our curiousity makes it even better. Happy birthday Rick and thank you!
  • My dad (who plays the violin) had an incredible recording of Bela Bartok's Divertimento for Strings made in the early 1970's by the Amati Ensemble in Berlin. I sort of grew up with that record as a kid. To this day it's my favourite piece of classical music. Unfortunately the record got lost somewhere along the road, and it doesn't seem to be rereleased. Now I have countless versions of the Divertimento, and every single one feels off. Things are wrong and nobody gets it perfectly right like the Amati Ensemble, to my despair.

Happy Birthday Rick! We are your people! Everyone on this video has done exactly what you did, and I understood every step you took. And as an older dad of a daughter (and son), I appreciate these moments, and I'm glad you shared yours. Thankyou! Cheers!
  • @RelicOnMaui
I never guessed I was that much older than you. I had, what I see now, was the incredible chance to see so many of the greats LIVE in their best years.. Hendrix, Zep, ELP, Yes, James Brown (1966), Jackson Five, Al McKay (when he was in the Watts 103rd), Mahavishnu Orchestra, Ravi Shankar, etc. High school in the "Summer of '69"! I NEVER expected to live to see what the world is like now. Keep your great episodes coming Rick.

Sharing one’s musical passion with a loved one during a daily routine, that’s perfect. Life isn’t always about grandiose moments but the quiet observation of brief everyday intimate moments. Happy birthday Rick and many more to come.
  • @craig.martin
Never change, Rick, never change. We love you. Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Maestro and thank you for all of the joy of music you share with us. Have a great year!
  • @Justin-Palm
Happy birthday! We are blessed to have you sharing your passion with us. Keep it up!!
  • I really know nothing about the bones, sinews, organs and tissues of music so I cannot judge what you say. But your respect for the artists and creators of music blasts out at full volume. That is an admirable virtue and it keeps me coming back to see more of it. Thank you.
  • Happy Birthday Rick you look great for your age many more years to celebrate
  • @luka.skomerza
Happy birthday Rick! Thank you for sharing your passion for music with us, and what a beautiful way to do it through one snippet of your daily routine with your daughter. Very touching.

Happy 62nd Rick!!! I discovered your channel during the pandemic lockdown and it was the right thing at the right time for me. The thing I like best about your channel is the way that your enthusiasm and love for music comes shining through. Your interviews are gems and l can’t wait to see what you and your support staff produce in the future. Cheers!!!
