Not many people notice but Daito’s samurai character is actually Toshiro Mifune, one of the most famous actors from Japan who often played Samurai characters. There was even a special thanks to his family estate for using him in this movie in the credits.

I know it's just me being manipulated by a large corporation into being emotionally invested in pop culture merchandising fanservice but...goddamnit the RX-78-2 showing up to beat the shit out of MechaGodzilla just sets off the happy centers of my brain so hard!! It's clear they put time and care into replicating the mobile suit and making it look great, and that animation is stellar, especially the drawn eye flash when it's fully formed. God I would kill for a full Gundam film of this quality

Daito was a true Gundam fan, he went in swinging like Amuro Ray and rather than back down when the timer was running out, he went out swinging like Heero Yuy. There's a reason why both lead Gundams have the same colour scheme.

Being 29 years old and growing up with damn near every reference made in this scene, dear god if this wasn’t the most epic moment in cinematic history for me. So incredibly glad I got to witness it in theaters. A true masterpiece.
