The Onyx Report is a program that critically analyzes the experiences, histories, and perceptions pertaining to Black males in American society across age, class, religion, sexuality, and occupation. I am your host, Dr. T. Hasan Johnson, Associate Professor of Africana Studies at Fresno State, Black Male Studies scholar, and Black Male Justice Advocate. In the program, we examine current events and major issues using an empirically-driven Black masculinist theoretical lens, thus including such concepts as the Black male dual economy, anti-Black misandry, phallicism, the subordinate male-target hypothesis, the subculture of violence theory, and the Black Gynarchy).

As this political season moves forward, I’ve noticed and heard brothers make statements about our agenda or having voice. But most don’t know their aldermen, city council, state rep, state senate. Don’t know where their office is, been to a council meeting or town hall. Guy’s that’s where things get done 1st on a local level. 🌴✊🏿✌🏾💯

1:02:23 This is false. People need to get their qualified asses in the door. You can't hire from a graduating class of plumbers to "reflect the community" if the graduating class doesn't "reflect the community". This all starts with young men being taught right. You can't reject every step of the system and then ask why it didn't work out for you. You rejected it and it went on without you.
