When i camp alone, i set up extra chairs with big flannel shirts hanging on them, big boots by the tent and extra cups on the table. I also talk to myself out loud and set out lit flashlights at different positions in camp in the evenings
  • Small bear trick if your camping far out there. Take a bottle of ammonia and some rags. Wet the rags a little bit. Bears have insane sense of smell you dont need a lot. But itll keep them away and mask the food sent.

Yo guys, walked away for a min to shoot some targets. Don't start drinking without us. Ivan, Igor😂
  • I always keep my key-fob next to my cot for a ‘noise maker’ if needed while I’m sleeping.

Years ago my Boy Scout troop would schedule nighttime vigils of 2 hours each where 2 scouts would take turns awake tending a campfire and remaining alert (12am-2am; 2am-4am; 4am-6am). Many a solid friendship was forged around those campfires. There's no way of knowing how many interlopers, seeing people awake, passed us by over the years. If camping in a group, this might be an option. Some love to stay up really late while others normally get up early. It's usually a win-win situation.

One of my favourite mess-with their-head ideas, when I'm parking my truck beside a logging road to go for a hike, is to leave an open ammunition box with the empty insert beside it on the seat. Nobody's going to think "Oh, he must have a rifle behind the seat." For food storage, whether you leave your cooler in your vehicle or hang a bear cache, is to clip one of those mesh tea eggs on top, with a cotton ball inside with a couple of drops of citronella oil on it. Bears, and probably other night raiders, really hate that smell, which will be a lot stronger than the food stored inside.

Here in Texas we also never know who is armed and who is not. Makes for polite campers.😎 And the fact that you say being armed is a personal choice but to be educated, trained, and licensed, is all I need to know. Happy camping, brother!

I usually put out food at other campers sites to keep bears out of my site.

I solo camp all the time and one of the things I have done is buy a bigger tent than necessary, to make it look like I'm not alone.

This is the best clip I've seen on the topic. Thanks for posting. Subscribed.
