We love corned beef hash when camping, but it takes quite a while to evaporate the moisture and get it to start browning. So I now pre-cook it at home, add some extra potatoes, onions, peppers, etc. Then I cool it, vacuum seal it flat, and freeze it. Then when we are at camp, it's just a matter of throwing it into a pan to just heat it, and adding our eggs. Takes so much less time when you want your breakfast. Also acts as another "ice pack" in the cooler, and it saves on fuel. I also pre-cook my bacon, and will sous vide meats so they're all ready to go. It's a good amount of prep, but well worth it when you're there and you just want to eat lol.

I can personally attest to the coughlins eggs carrier. That thing is the boss. I did a 3 week hunt in Alaska. On the ground, no cabin. I packed eggs in that carrier, I had the 6 and 12 carrier. strapped them to the outside of my pack and walked in 8 miles through extremely dense bush to the hunting grounds. Not 1 egg broke!
  • If you fill a wide mouth bottle with eggs, with the yolk unbroken, they will remain unbroken. Just pour into the pan for fried eggs. This is good for one time,or maybe scrambled the second time.

I’ve used the frozen water bottles as ice for years but I’m definitely using the eggs in a bottle, what a great idea. Thank You for sharing
  • I'm old and single. I also don't care for the trinity and mirpoix from the store. Cut too small, proportions wrong, etc. So I prep mine and freeze in quart freezer bags. Same for Mexican veggies. One thing. On your bin video, if you've got a cast iron skillet, get a baster lid and a camp oven. And Lodge has a steel griddle that's deeper and has nice big handles. Also, the gloves are nice, but take a couple of kitchen towels (4). They're great hot hands and will save on your paper towels. Happy Trails!

The biggest camping cooking hack is to precook all the meat so you don't have to worry about it going bad or under/overcooking it when your tipsy and it's dark out

Thanks for the great hacks!! One of the best things about camping is prepping ahead of time, creating a great meal, pulling it off at the campsite with little or no effort. Then you can enjoy the rest of your evening around the camp fire with little or no clean up. Yes, It is fun to create a meal from scratch at the campsite, doing it all the at that time, but when the weather changes or your plans change, you’ll wish you had prepped better.

I enjoy your chanel (and you two) very much. I'm a long term van camper. On laundry/grocery day, I get my shopping done, get a motel room, get me clean and rested, and all the food prepped for the coming trip.
