Welcome to the Martial Arts Journey YouTube channel!

My name is Rokas. I'm a Lithuanian guy who trained Aikido for 14 years, 7 of them running a professional Aikido Dojo until eventually, I realized that Aikido does not live up to what it promises.

Lead by this realization I decided to make a daring step to close my Aikido Dojo and move to Portland, Oregon for six months to start training MMA at the famous Straight Blast Gym Headquarters under head coach Matt Thornton.

After six months intensive training I had my first amateur MMA fight after which I moved back to Lithuania. During all of this time I am documenting my experience through my YouTube channel called "Martial Arts Journey".

Now I am slowly setting up plans to continue training MMA under quality guidance and getting ready for my next MMA fight as I further document and share my journey and discoveries.

Top 5 quotes from Jesse in this video: 1. Its better to be kind than right. 2. Only compare yourself to yourself. 3. Be comfortable to be uncomfortable. 4. Believe in yourself that you can do something even if you dont believe you can do it. 5. Your only limit is you. And bonus: You masterpiece will come when you master peace. 🙂

Really love to see this community that has emerged around honest discourse on martial arts bringing together different schools of thought. Between you two, Sensei Seth, Ramsey Dewey (and yes, even Icy Mike) and so many others, it seems like a great dialogue on what works, what is important, and what people study martial arts for. Look forward to seeing more like this!

  • @dougcoombes8497
I don't practice martial arts, I watch these videos for the philosophy and inspiration of the host and the people he interacts with. These are positive messages anyone can benefit from.
  • @sliderx1897
Jesse doesn't like to be called a influencer, but he influences all of us to be our best
  • @PhycoKrusk
It's very interesting to me the way that already, Jesse easily plays the role of the wise sensei: He freely offers advice, teaches lessons through telling stories, and has a number of sayings that teach lessons without sounding like lessons
  • @Kianwan
Jesse is such an inspiration, not just from a martial arts perspective, but from a way of life as well.
  • @Lieutenant-Dan
What Jesse said is a good rule to try and follow - compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.
  • I very much appreciated this conversation, also Jesse looks like a really good person to me, other than good instructor.
  • @xyon9090
I watched the entire video. Only few people will watch the whole video, but the ones who did will gain enough wisdom to be a better person than they were yesterday.
  • It's a discussion between two very wise dudes. I wish you all the best.
  • @feraldynaufal
I think inspired by the void is one of the coolest thing I've ever heard. Really like both of you although I'm not a martial artist.
  • @kingkarrot9304
I just recently found your channel and I find it very inspiring. I recently started martial arts (MMA) myself to hopefully find peace with my depression, anxiety’s, and insecurities. And hearing ppl as open and authentic as you guys is awesome
  • Man the more i know about jesse the more i get invested into him. His moralities his personality his motivation even his goals matches perfectly with me. I also wanted since my childhood to perfect karate and discover as much of it as possible and when i found jesse it is like i saw a future version of me. And than i found your channel which introduced me to another great man who also shares my Passion to discover the truth behind Martial arts and perfect his own craft. I wish there will come a day where i can meet you both and be another contributeur to our community and learn more from you. Until than keep up your life journeys
  • @shaidrim
This was one of my fav vid of your as I also follow Jesse, and this interview, how you managed it, your way to interact with each other lights up a lot of both of you
  • @curanox
Hi Rokas, i really liked the Interview. I was actually surprised about the things you mentioned at the end. This feeling of watching you becoming more selfcentered and selfabsorbed in your Journey did drive me off at some Point. Your recent videos peeked my interest again to follow your Journey. Keep it Up. Never stop developing yourself. That's the meaning of Budo for me personally. I enjoy watching you battling your doubts since it is the same for every true practitioner of martial arts.
