Artificial Intelligence - Unity Fighting Game Update #13

Until this point, I've been playing this game like a pianist, trying to hit multiple buttons on two controllers to simulate reactions and debug things. No longer! With artificial intelligence in place I was able to catch many bugs, and really look at the game closely to see what exactly the pace of battle is like.

Since this was a coding adventure, I think it's only fitting that the next update be online functionality! I'll return soon with details on what I come up with, and hopefully some tips for other interested developers.

The intended roadmap from here is as follows:

1. Online multiplayer functionality
2. Finalized Gameplay & BETA (to un-finalize it based on feedback, ha)
3. new background & lighting methods
4. Finalize shaders for hair, skin, clothes, etc.
5. Redo the first 2 characters (Kiensaku & Kensilina).
6. Character Customization

    didn't think I'd find many resources on developing a fighting game but lo and behold, there's a madman making a log on that very topic so ye. I am pleasantly surprised and look forward to future development.
  • That Flying towards the opponent in the air is very satisfying to the player, because thats how you would want to fight if you could. Great particles as well.

    Hey I know it's been a while since I last shared an update. The online version of the game is still being worked on, and turned out to be a bigger task than I anticipated. I've got it in a playable form. My industry was hit by the dumb new virus, so things have been hectic, and I haven't been able to take any time off to work on this. Expect a new video soon!

    keep going and you could really make this a big thing. I absolutely love playing tekken and mortal combat so having the opportunity to play your game in the future would be awesome.

  • Small pet peeve about it is that some characters dont move their arms up when kicking above the waist and some attacks look stale.

    What are your plans for this game? Are you just making it as a way to learn or are you looking to actually make a profitable game for production? I'm impressed with your progression on it. What's your background? are you a programmer or game designer or anything like that? Did you go to college to learn this stuff?
