Im sitting on a tanker offshore. I haven’t seen my family in the last 3 months and the first time I heard my 1 1/2 year old son say “Dada” I was hundreds of miles away. Ill get to come home for maybe a month before coming out here again for 3 more so we can make the bills and recover from financial loss after covid. Its hard brothers, but keep going. I'm a married blue collar man with kids. My wife and kids have no idea how much I think about making sure none of them are ever hungry, they have the things they need and want, that the power never gets shut off, or that the heat doesn't get shut off. I've lost a lot of sleep, feeling like im failing my family. I've missed trips to the beach, playgrounds, scout meetings, ect. staying out late at work to provide. I've come home to cold meals, and my kids in bed more times than I want to think about. It takes a toll on me working 6 days almost every week. It feels like my kids are growing up without me sometimes.

This song reminds me, while I search for my missing son for the last 3 years, what he may be going through and the terror my husband feels everyday about all he does to hold us together despite the pain, anguish, and turmoil of not knowing and winging it every time he leaves the house.
