1 day to build the bike, 2 days to test it and then we took it on a 1200 mile road trip to barber vintage festival. Pretty good for an ol Yamaha xs650. Hope you guys enjoyed this one, it took a lot of work! Keep it weird y'all #shadetreearmy

you're a bad ass just for riding 1200 miles with those handlebars

“His bike isn’t old it’s just shitty” words of a wise man

My father came home from Vietnam in 1968 to nothing. His parents thought he would never come back so they sold all his belongings. He had a 1968 BSA and rode it from Michigan to Alaska to work on the Cook Inlet on an exploratory drill rig. His story’s about the trip and the work are epic. Wish he had a go pro camera in those days.

I sold my last motorcycle in '87, thirty some odd years later, you've just rekindled an old man's fires.

I did three states in 1972 on my chopper, my back was never the same.
  • When I was younger I made the run your making and many others. Sometime alone, sometime with a gal on the back, sometimes with friend or two and others with my dad riding next to me. Slept on the ground at night and rode all day long. My bikes have sat in a shec for few years because the needs of my kids, work and agings parents always put them too far down the list. Sadly I list my old man last year and the last time I rode was next my best friend at the front of his funeral procession. Thanks for being who you are and reminding me of who I was. Enjoy it while you can! Life is too short to miss having a little adventure. If you are ever in Wesley Chapel and need a pick up, loaner tool or a shop to wrench in hit me up.

Shadetree, I’ve watched this episode three times and it never gets old. This is the essence of what riding is all about; friends, beer, good times and the road. Hope to one day build a bike of my own. Thanks for inspiration.

I need friends like these. All my long distance bike trips are solo missions

I love how josh was talking about all these badass bikes you get to see at fests like this but i guarantee there were several people who looked at his chopper thinkin “damn you don’t get to see that every day”

Style before function. Gotta look good at the side of the road when it breaks down ;D

A ride like that after just finishing up a motorcycle, you sir are a legend!
  • I’m from Grand Prairie Alberta Canada great video really enjoyed it. I’m 67 years old. Makes me want to go out there and do it one more time.
  • @Dreez76
That is the very definition of a great time. On the road with friends, using motorbikes, and good weather - to die for.

Is there anything more "American" than building your own bike, then going on a multi state road trip with your friends? Fkn epic! Well done brother, you checked off alot of goals this year. PS thanks for doing this in one video.
  • This is literally my dream. Road trips with the boys, drinking beer, getting hammered.
  • @bartavaughan295
42 years of riding the 650 chopper brings back memories you rode what you could afford to ride. Being a poor boy from the past i feel you bro.

This is what America is all about. Adventures with your family.
