After years of avoiding Assassin’s Creed Origins and after years of putting it off I finally got around to it and my god, do I feel strongly about it. I often listen to what you guys and gals in the comments say and based on your words, I was going into this game expecting it to blow me away as you had all stated it was by far the best in the new trilogy. Well, not ALL of you but a majority of you got my hopes up and as it turns out, I am head over heels for this game. Everything about it from the combat, stealth, exploration, the architecture of Egypt, the mythos of Egypt, and Bayeks story all were so much fun that I ruined my sleep schedule purely due to the absurd number of times I said, “I should really go to bed... gah let me just do one more thing”. I think it goes without saying but I believe this game is MILES ahead of Odyssey and Kilometres ahead of Valhalla. The entire time I played I was having so much fun and yet, by the end of the 25-hour campaign, I felt this wave of sadness wash over me. I came to this realization of why this game was so good for me, and more unfortunately why it was so good for a lot of other people. I realize that the reasons I love this game don’t necessarily line up with what everyone else likely loved about it.

Assassin's Creed Origins is a 2017 action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the tenth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series. Principally set in Egypt, near the end of the Ptolemaic period (49–43 BC), the story follows a Medjay named Bayek of Siwa and his wife Aya, and explores the origins of the millennia-long conflict between the Hidden Ones—forerunners to the Assassin Brotherhood—who fight for peace by promoting liberty, and The Order of the Ancients—forerunners to the Templar Order—who desire peace through the forced imposition of order. The narrative also includes sequences set during the 21st century, which follow a new character, Layla Hassan. Featuring a large open world, Origins adopted elements from role-playing video games and incorporated an overhauled "hitbox-based" combat system.

The game's development began following the release of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (2013). Ubisoft Montreal led its four-year development with help from a team of nearly 700 people from other Ubisoft studios around the world. The team consulted Egyptologists and historians extensively to ensure the setting was authentically represented in the game.

Welcome to Assassin's Creed Origins. In this Assassin's Creed Origins Review, which is long enough to be called an Assassin's Creed Origins Critique. Assassin's Creed Origins 4 Years Later, has seen alot of positive praise from fans and critics alike but in this Assassin's Creed Origins Analysis, we will look at why this is. This Assassin's Creed Origins Retrospective is a bit of a different one because, as I’m sure the title I HATE That I LOVE Assassin's Creed Origins implies, my feeling are a little conflicted. With the announcement of Assassin's Creed New games, it’s important to look back at Origins. I read Assassin's Creed Origins Guides, watched lets plays, played the game, watched Assassin's Creed Retrospectives, and studied Assassin's Creed Infinity, just to make sure I had all the information required. Video made by That Boy Aqua, and is the final RPG game in my That Boy Aqua Assassin's Creed series. I hate assassins creed origins, I love assassins creed origins, but hopefully I can find some middle ground.

These videos take a lot of time and effort so if you want to support me and the channel you can do so by clicking this link here: www.patreon.com/thatboyaqua Any corrections will be posted here: My monkey brain starts again and I mixed up the words “kilometre and mile” in my script. It was initially meant to say kilometres ahead of Odyssey and miles ahead of Valhalla” oops 😬 When talking about the fan service I want to clarify that it isn't a statement that applies to everyone and it isn't meant to be some definitive point. It was just meant as a thought dump since my thoughts were so conflicted. So don't think that I am talking about YOU as an individual or anything. I just figured it would be an interesting point of discussion and I wanted to see if others felt the same, and if not, why not

This game gets Egyptian history right more than any film ever made about ancient Egypt.
  • @somecityorc
One of my favorite side quests is when Bayek talks a woman out of suicide on a cliff. Just listening to them for what felt like 5 minutes of genuine emotion in the Egyptian dusk really resonates with me years later.

I can't even remember how many pictures I took in photo mode when I was in the afterlife of queen Nefertiti, that place was beyond beautiful, no other afterlife gave me the same feeling, the yellow fields as far as the eye could see, beautiful sun, giant statues in perfect lines that would go on into the horizon, guards of anubis, ships and building made entirely out of gold. truly beautiful
  • That Scarab twist really got me, I quite liked him at first. Plus he could really fight when we were defending Letopolis. When he poisoned me, I felt surprisingly betrayed. I guess the connection with his wife and son also built that up as well.
  • I feel like the severing of Bayeks ring finger was a metaphor for his relationship with Aya and subsequently started this tradition of giving up personal relationships for the assassin brotherhood until Leonardo changed that with Ezio
  • @tenshin111
Technically, Origins doesn't take place in Ancient Egypt. This is Ptolemaic Egypt on the verge of Roman conquest. The pyramids are already ancient history for Bayek. Great video btw!
  • @proudnoob124
i wanted a sequel to this game soooo badly. I was convinced we were going to get a trilogy based on Bajek like we did for Ezio. It's such a shame that it seems like Ubisoft completely forgot about ir
  • @thebusey543
One thing I loved about this game is that Bayek can visit the same cavern that Layla is in during the modern day parts.. Layla will even mention she's "visited this place as Bayek", and Bayek will say "Aya and I's love started here, it should end here". Idk why but it blew my mind.
  • @callmeivan2064
my favourite side quest is one called Flea of Cyrene, where a bunch of children asks you to perform stunt jumps from high locations (top of a temple, cliff etc). There's no interesting mechanic, no deep lore or pondering questions but just seeing Bayek interacting with the children and playing along with their games is such a heart-warming moment that I just had this massive smile across my face while playing. Hell, there's even a small reference to Ezio Auditore with the quest giver is a child named Esiocles.
  • @BenPisarik
Fun fact: you can actually parry the “heavy” attacks even though you can’t block them! There is a much smaller window to parry, but it is possible, keep in mind this is only possible in Origins. It is a risk/reward thing.
  • @MrBfg586
That side quest with the little girl dying is to me one of the saddest side quest I've every played. That image of her in the water, damn.
  • @CybernerdShua
The thing that drew me into this game was the Egyptian history and culture that I had never learned anything about and this made me research so much. I LOVED that.
  • Fun fact the feature of changed his hair and beard was a mistake and a console command accidentally left in by the developers. But people liked it so much they made it into a full feature
  • @Flambingo
Origins is my favorite. I love Bayek, I love the setting, and of all the RPG-hybrid AC games, it has the best balance of old and new. It was an overhaul that didn't spit on the legacy that came before, and is genuinely the most fun of that trilogy by far. It's the only one that treats the assassin playstyle with any respect 💀
  • This game has a way of sneaking into your heart, i thought i would hate it but I can't tell you how many times i thought I would only spend 5 more minutes playing this game before bed and would end up being surprised by sunrise
  • @Inuzumi
I really liked how Bayek tries to help people but gets angry when they try to make him their errand boy and when they ask for stupid things. It's okey to try to help people with their problems but don't make me your delibery boy or things are gonna get bloody between us. A protagonist that respects himself like that, well done Ubisoft. Overall, great game that doesn't overstated its welcome and knows when to end.
  • hey aqua, in case you didn't know origins actually has no unparryable attacks your timing just has to be extremely precise. great video btw
  • I just realized that Bayek losing his ring finger foreshadows the end of his marriage to Aya. A seemingly inconsequential action being elevated to that level of importance is yet another reason why I love this game so much.
