This is the full critique of Assassins Creed Odyssey and all of its DLC. This was a project that took over a year to finish and the excessive length of this video, I think, is evidence to that effect. Originally, this was uploaded as three separate videos, months and months apart, but now that all three parts are done, I’ve congealed them into one giant mass which is this monstrosity to which you’re about to bear witness. I’ve done this so that you can consume the whole critique in the way that was originally intended. I’ve still included timestamps below and I encourage you to jump around to the discussions that interest you most, or watch the whole thing start to finish, I won’t judge. This video is broadly broken into three parts, Narrative, Gameplay, and then the DLC, and there are sub discussions throughout. I get really detailed in here so if you’re looking for something very light, this isn’t the video for you. But then again, you probably didn’t click on this video unless you had some idea of what an almost 3 hour critique on a single game would bring. Lastly, I repeat it in each of the three parts, but spoiler warning. Everything in the game and its DLC will be spoiled, so consider yourself warned.

Thank you all for your support through this endeavour and especially to all of you Patrons that have helped make these crazy projects possible. I love you all, enjoy the video.

I honestly don't play this as a assassin's creed game, this is just my Greek rpg game
  • @karlraid4354
My man really made a 3 hour rant about AC Odyssey Still a legend for not getting any money from it
  • @piercelaw7165
Fun fact: kill a bunch a goats on kepholania and you have a chance to find the cyclop’s eye and it sells for a LOT

The actress who plays Kassandra is great.

I liked the game, but one thought always stuck with me. "GIVE ME A SHIELD!"

To me, this game can be summed up as: decent open world execution, but drawn out and repetitive at its core.

Its so big I didn't even remember the story after some time. I actually liked the island or region missions because they were short and sweet with interesting characters. Every region was like a mini assassins creed game and you will enjoy the game like that.

I quite enjoyed this however I quite enjoy grindy games and mindlessly clearing map markers. I know that's not for everyone.

Three hours? Really? You think I'm going to watch a 3 hour long vi- Of course I'm going to watch it.

1:41:27 I love how it says, “confirm cultist kill” when you just performed an overpowered attack and their body is laying in a burning bush 😂

Bayek was one of my favorite assassins. His character and his story was intriguing because he wasn’t just someone who ran around and assassinated. He lost his son by his own hands and you could hear the pain in his voice when he was talking about him.

"Oh, a settlement needs our help!" goes into a mental breakdown

First Mythical creature I faced was thje minotaur. I was in Crete and had just done the quests surrounding the minotaur tourist industry around the island and the game kept just throwing hints at me that an actual minotaur might exist as I cleared those quests and never found it. The game itself kept revving up and up this existence and I kept wanting to find out more and more. Then I went to the ruins, found the key and when the real minotaur showed up, it was one of the best gaming experiences I ever had.

In regards to the mythic monsters, they're a product of Isu artifacts. The artifacts themselves turn anyone unlucky enough to touch them into those beasts as a defense mechanic. Alexios/Kassandra are only able to resist it due to their bloodline. So, they technically make as much sense as the protag's super spear.
  • I don't miss the linear style, I miss the more narrative focused, basic combat style of ac game. I am not a dark souls fan, and cannot stand the level locking, and was super hyped to hear they abandoned it in Valhalla, for a more skill focused experience.
  • They probably should've made this a separate entity from the Assassin's Creed franchise, but it probably wouldn't have gotten the sales without it though.
  • @mrhaast5053
First time the cutscene with the cyclops happened I thought the goat walking in front of you was a common glitch with npc's during cutscenes which ended up making the cutscene that much better when I realized why the little bleeter was there

Odyseey should have been a seperate IP. Imagine how cool it would have been for Ubi to fully embrace Greek mythology and not have to find excuses to include the mythical creatures/ monsters or the Assassin storyline. Most people who like Odyseey never liked AC before anyways so not like they needed to carry over the title.
