Attack Ranni: She's completely unharmed, acts disappointed in you (Emotional damage) and just leaves. Betray Ranni and annoy her: Insults the smell of your breath and uses an instant death attack on you. Damn she's savage.

Most NPCs handle betrayal by hurting your body, Ranni just hurts your feelings.

The protagonist literally slays gods and demi-gods for a living, and Ranni just kills you instantly without touching you if you annoy her too much. Either there is some magical trap in her tower, or she really can just kill people with her mind. The latter would probably make her the most powerful character in all of Elden Ring.

Three observations: 1) No matter what you do or how awful you are to her, she never disparages you for being tarnished like so many others - she only criticises your choices or character 2) She reveals in no uncertain terms what is hinted at / suspected, which is that Seluvis basically roofies girls with his potions to r*pe them and wanted to do this to Ranni as well 3) Even after you do this to her, she admonishes and shames you and tells you to leave, unharmed, and only when you insist over and over does she show you she always had the power to end you with the snap of a finger - of all the demigods she is probably the one with most restraint, who does not use her power lightly These interactions just reinforce my view that Ranni is one of the best characters and makes me feel the moon ending is probably the best - no one is perfect in the lands between but Ranni has the qualities that befit a Goddess
