  • LOVE IT!!!! We really need to get back to nature!!! THANK YOU to you and your family for setting an example we should all be living by!! GREAT JOB!!! You take being self-sufficient and living off the grid to a whole new level!!!👍😊
  • I grew up in Colville, with family in Kettle Falls and the surrounding areas. I drove past here many times over the years. Thanks for the history lesson.

Wonderfull. The world needs more of these. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
  • Yes, Mike Johnson is my wife’s dad. He purchased Meyers Falls in 1998 from Avista.
  • well hi-dee-o there neighbor, from the Lewis River Hydroelectric Project. 👋 Hendricksons and hydro must be a catchy trend in the PNW. ✌🤓
  • Amazing to see the installation. Maybe we should do an updated video with the redesigned generators.

It's pretty cool that you own your own. I work for Mercury here in NZ. I'm part of the team that takes care of north hydro on the Waikato river, but I spend most of my time at Karapiro (closer to home) where we can produce ~126MW, but generally produce ~70MW. You didn't mention the rating of your generators, but I saw one in the video that is 300KW. I didn't know there were so many small hydro sites in the US until I started watching a few videos here on Youtube. Keep up the good work and don't forget that all the old steel mills that have long since gone away used very similar technologies to generate DC. You may find some of the parts you need in holding yards near these places.

thanks for sharing. keep up the great work.

Really pretty site, what a wonderful job to have and property to own

The method of generating power has not changed much over the last 125 years or so. The methods of monitoring and control have, but the old stuff still works great. I would hope that the condition of the penstocks have been checked, as the weight of water can really do damage, if there is a weak spot.

I love tasmania, we have full standalone electrical capability of running 100% on hydroelectical power

Parabens pelo seu trabalho 🎉 aqui no brasil so querem explorar o povo !!!!!!!

Very impressive nicely maintained old Hydro powerhouses . Saw you had a SEL 700G multifunction relay for a generator protection relay installed which is a perfect upgrade for a small hydro plants . Also noticed the ballast weights mounted to the wicket shift ring for closing energy perhaps? Were the governors on these units originally belt driven "Gate shaft "Governors?

Great video, thanks for posting. An Oct 26, 2013 Spokesman Review article says a hydro power consultant named Mike Johnson “bought the Meyers Falls plant from Avista Corp.” in around the year 2000. Is that not correct?
  • @SOU6900
Do the old analog meters still work, or are they just disconnected and just there for looks?

Mr. Hendrickson, My dad has manufactured hydro power plants for many years. His company was Almanor Machine Works, at Lake Almanor, CA. He is now 97 yo, and I want to take him on a "Hydro journey" for his last hoorah. We would like to visit your facility, if at all possible. It would be sometime this summer, but don't know exactly what month, yet. (He knew your father in-in-law Mike.) Could I message you off of YouTube ? Respectfully, Peter Moale Jr.
