"wake your puppy up every 2 hours" me, a deep sleeper: what
  • Awesome lesson! The only thing I might add is, take your puppy out on a leash to the spot you want them to go potty. If you just let them out, they don't realize they are going out to go potty. Puppies will get confused as to "am I out to play," or am I out to go potty? I take puppies out on a leash. And then after the puppies go potty, I will praise them and then let them off the leash.
  • She knows her stuff. I have trained puppies for 40 yrs. There are no bad puppies, it's bad humans. They know and follow what we teach thing.
  • When ever I wake my puppy up to take her outside to potty throughout the night she just lays down in the grass and falls back asleep 😂 (thank you all so much for the likes)
  • I just got my puppy this morning, I’ve been taking her out every 1-2 hours, and she’s already cried twice to let me know she has to go out!! I think she got started potty training before we got her but I’m surprised how fast she’s learning!!
  • So, sooo true. The initial hard work and a few disturbed nights makes the world of difference. I try to stay away from training pads because it takes much longer and I feel confuses your pet. But for some I totally understand this is an necessity. I take my 6 week old out three to four times during the night and continuously throughout the day, although impossible if you're not working from home. Hardly any sleep for a couple of weeks but in the long run it will pay off. Total dedication and continuity required which for some ould prove to be impossible, but if you can do it, definitely worth the effort. Very patient with him, too, as they are only babies, so accidents will happen. He sleeps in my bed, (bad practise perhaps but it works for us) and yet to have a wet bed! ❤
  • Videos on all aspects of having a pup are most welcome. My young adult son rocked up with a pup yesterday and he has a lot to learn. Reading isn’t his thing so your videos will really help him. He is also more likely to listen to social media for tips than to me. 😂 Thank you so much.
  • Mine grunts at me when she needs to poop and says, “woo woo woo” when she has to pee. I think we got the broken one. 😂
  • Did you say “tap your kidney” when he first peed outside in the video? So confused lol
  • Rachel is freakin awesome and amazing!!! I bought a 10 week old puppy last week. Today was my first day off with it, meaning a full day to work with it. I’ve done exactly as you mentioned, take it out every 1-2 hours. After a week of frustration, with it doing it’s business anywhere and everywhere around the apartment, yet the moment I take it outside….nothing. Today with me keeping on top of it all day, it’s gone on it’s own….outside all three times. The third time was a bit of a struggle. I figured we’d go inside and try it again in 15 minutes. It started sniffing the carpet, going around in circles, and I immediately remembered you mentioning that when looking for signals. I took her outside, and we are now three for three for the day, no inside accidents so far today.
  • OH MY!! My 12 week old Bernedoodle puppy will be with us in 10 days so I am watching every video and reading every blog on puppy training, as it's been 17 years since I trained a puppy! Rachel, your voice and delivery is so easy to listen to and understand. I can't wait to watch more of your videos! Thank you for sharing your love of puppies and your hard earned wisdom!
  • @ElTiano21
So basically you need to not have a job, be able to wake up every 2-3 hours and go back to sleep right after, and be able to stay home watching your dog constantly if you want to get a pup. My newborn baby had less requirements. GOT IT ! EDIT: the amount of people on the internet that take a sarcastic exaggeration of a comment and think it’s real 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️
  • I was skeptical but can honestly say this works. It sucks to wake up frequently but it’s worth it. The only accidents that have happened are because of mistakes I made. I set a timer for every 2-3 hours since he’s 8 weeks and it’s been great. This is a great video
  • Thank you so much for all of your videos Rachel! We're getting our new puppy next week, and I've been watching all of your videos. Wish I would have known about your channel with our boy that we just lost. 😔 Thanks again, keep doing what you're doing. ❤
  • We’re getting our mini Aussie this Friday, and I can’t wait to implement these hacks!! Thank you so much!
  • I feel like my pup doesn’t want to pee outside because of the cold lol * Update on my pup, She's 2 years old now and uses the doggy door very well. But now she's starting to pee inside only when it's super cold or super windy. I started getting pee pads for times like that***
  • Thank you Rachel. I am a pet sitter and I'm currently sitting a gorgeous Great Dane pup. Earlier today the pup did her business inside and I went the wrong way about it. I feel so terrible and I immediately looked for a guide on what to do. Your vid has just helped me immensely. Thank you. ❤ Sending you warm regards and love all the way from South Africa. Take care. David.
  • Thank you so much! I really needed your tips! Just adopted a 3 month rescue lab :)
