The lord of the rings was my dad's favorite. We would watch it once a year as a family. And i know he specifically loved the music. He passed September 2019 and I keep coming to this video to feel close to him.
  • In light of how the world is right now, this quote has never been more perfect: It's like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened. But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something. That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for. -Samwise Gamgee

I’m so lonely everyday but at night it’s the worst. Loneliness is one of the craziest feelings I’ve experienced. These videos, these comments make me feel just a bit less lonely

I find it truly amazing to sit here in my dark room late at night and to miss a place I have never been.

"And he lived happily ever after. To the end of his days." Farewell Sir Ian Holm, you'll finally go to the Grey Havens❤️

My 28 year old brother died a year ago. He and I used to watch LOTR and The hobbit all the time. This song is what I have to remember him now. Hold your loved ones close :)
  • After reading all these comments , i don't feel so alone in this fallen world.
  • “End? No the journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey-rain curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.”

The two things I want most in life: an old wizard scratching something on my door with his staff, and a wardrobe leading to a snowy forest and a single street lamp.

My grandmother introduced me to Bilbo and the Shire at the age of four, 38 years ago, and I’ve spent my entire literary existence searching for the warmth and comfort that Tolkien created in Middle Earth, in other novels. My heart will always belong to the Shire, and to Rivendell, from the shores of the Grey Havens to the Citadel of the White Tower and beyond. I will always cherish these stories, every page of every version of every book I’ve ever owned that brings me back. I learned to enjoy reading with Bilbo and the Dwarves of Erebor, and Mr. Tolkien’s Middle Earth has been an inspiration all my years. My children, and their children, will learn to love the Shire as I have, for as long as the paper upon which the words of this masterful tale are written remains. Thank you, J.R. and Christopher, for letting the world accompany you on your journey through Middle Earth and now beyond. As Gandalf once told the Lord of the Eagles, Gwaihir: May the wind under your wings bear you to where the sun sails and the moon walks

The Steward of Middle Earth is no more; his ship has sailed to the Undying Lands. RIP Christopher Tolkien, 1924-2020.

A young child sits alone in a dark room, a candle his only companion. He hides from the scary world in a tattered blanket and finds shelter in an old book with the name J.R.R Tolkein on the cover. Thank you sincerely for reminding me of my innocence when my world was still so small. I truly appreciate this with tears in my eyes. Thank you for sharing this digital smile.

On a lonely night, I came here wishing to find my people. I long to travel to distant places, speak every language and learn as much as I can while I exist. For now I can't do those things, but at least here, I can feel a little closer to peoples I've yet to meet, read such beautiful comments and feel a little better about my station in life right now. Good travels to all who're here in the Shire looking for comfort and their purpose.

Unequivocally, one of the best cinematic soundtracks in existence.
  • You ever just want your day to consist of waking up in a really cozy bed with the smell of firewood and French toast in the morning, as you finally open your eyes the sunlight streams through all the circular windows in your cabin. The floor is an old creaky oak wood but it brings more nostalgia than annoyance. A convenient little cabin that invites you to the living room with the sound of crackling firewood as soon as you walk out of your bedroom. Now that the sun is up you extinguish the fire and settle down in a rocking chair facing out of a window that displays the most beautiful clover fields in the whole world. Children running around and laughing, folks walking with their family and friends, the faint sound of birds singing their morning song. And you just sit there for 15 minutes admiring it all. The day goes by with errands and events, going to the market for breads, and milk, eggs and such. And finally, a local gathering for the town feast where everyone is invited to a large tavern as the sun begins to set over the rolling hills. By the time everyone has enjoyed their food, the night is present but still young. You say goodbye to your friends and neighbors and head back to the cozy hill cabin. Your routine night pipe awaits by the fireplace where you smoke while you light and poke the fireplace to life again. Crickets slowly create an ambience throughout the night that tells you most people are asleep by now. Pipe in mouth you read a massive book called ‘the Adventures of Bilbo Baggins’ for about 30 minutes by the fire each night, settled down in a cozy leather chair. The moonlight reveals the clover fields one more time before morning, and what once was a lively vivacious town is temporarily silent as you set the pipe atop the fireplace and head to sleep. The last thing you hear is the crickets in the distance, and an occasional gentle breeze through your circular windows. All is well, and the house is furnished just to your liking. You pick up your old note keeper to write out your day as you normally do before falling asleep. You tell of the warm morning sunshine, the bright green clover fields, the laughing children and the wandering neighbors, the amazing food at the town feast and all the wonderful conversations and laughs you had whilst being there, but most importantly you emphasize how happy you are to be alive in such an amazing time and place. And you finish with, “I couldn’t think of any place I’d rather be than here in The Shire.” At last, you put the note keeper back on the nightstand, cover up in your cozy bed, and drift into a long peaceful sleep. No worries, no anxiety, no pressure. All is Well

“I came from the end of bag, but no bag went over me. I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles. I am Ring-winner and Luckwearer; and I am Barrel-rider.” – Bilbo Baggins Ian Holm 1931-2020
