  • The knife stabbing scene in Saving Private Ryan will forever haunt me. I was in my teenage years watching SPR. The slow knife stab made me feel so hopeless, helpless and fearful at the same time.
  • Woohoo! I composited 3 of those Barry shots! Thanks for showing my work!
  • One of the genius things about the Fallout bathroom fight is it's over before it begins - or so you think. Hunt goes in with the knockout shot, gets owned, then Walker floors the guy with the case. Fight done. None of it is telegraphed. You forget what's in the case until it comes to them trying to make the mask in the stall. Even those of us who saw Cavill 'reloading' his arms in the trailer are sitting there going "Oh ok - quick and easy!"

To be fair, while Liam being 60 in that fight scene makes it less believable, Tom Cruise was 56 in that fight sequence from MI: Fallout.
  • The Mission Impossible Fallout fight scene is my favorite, but that Barry fight scene looks hilariously cool. I think I need to watch that show now.
  • @Bat_Boy
'Nobody', bus scene. 'Kill Bill', trailer home scene. 'Kiss of the Dragon' (multiple) 'The Matrix' (multiple) 'Borne Identity'
  • The fight in the shop in John Wick 3, nearly 15 mins into the movie. Incredible choreography and direction. John is surrounded by his wannabe killers in a narrow hallway, what's his escape plan? To make the best of his situation, use throwing knives, and even using one of the attackers as a shield at one moment. Just beautifully violent.
  • Great shoutout to Steven Seagal's Seated Slap Fight-Fu. Space Ice is nodding in appreciation somewhere.
  • In the context of this video there are two films that really need covering: Haywire and The Raid. Haywire has a very real grounding, it shows the punishment of the fight, without detracting from the power of the fight. The Riad is just visceral kinetic violence, but choreographed in such a way to make it immediate, repulsive and the exhilarating.
  • The “hand me tha fackin keys what tha faaa” has me dying literally every time. The scene of them all laughing in the line up was because one of them let rip on set I can’t remember who I think it was spacey but can’t remember. Fun fact tho
  • @n0f8r
Glaring omission here - the Oldboy (2003 Park Chan-Wook) corridor fight scene.
  • The stairwell fight in Atomic Blonde is 100% worth the ticket price alone. I love how they make a one take scene without it actually being a one take.
  • Little ninja girl be defying gravity. Barry is hilarious.
  • Please check out the scene from Upgrade (2018). The protagonist is being controlled by an implanted AI through one of the key fight sequences. He is having an existential breakdown, sobbing, not understanding what is going on, whilst at the same time he is clinically destroying an assailant. Its remarkable, and I think it shows how the fight scene itself can be used to progress the plot, not just having the plot depend on its outcome.
  • Awesome series. As an aspiring film maker, I love how critical you are of both "quick edits" and "shaky cam", both of which I hate and note every time I see in a movie. You should do bad sword fight scenes and good sword fight scenes. The best one to use is the sword fight scene in the movie Troy, Brad Pitt against Eric Bana, Hector vs Achilles, greatest sword fight in a movie ever and no one knows about it.
  • The hallway fight in Daredevil The hallway fight in Repo Men The prison fight in Punisher I think they're all pretty good fight scenes, and obviously inspired by Old Boy. Also, the kitchen fight in Upgrade, while rather short, is interestingly made and with the low budget they had.
  • While it doesn’t count, I’m very glad you added the fight from Barry, it’s very funny and Barry is my favorite show.
  • @derbudz
"Ninja Assassin" (2009) The bathroom fight scene, loved that one back then because of how gritty and real it felt. (Haven't seen the movie in years, don't know if it aged well)
  • @noelv1976
I hope you cover the hallway fight scene in season one of Daredevil. I know it's a tv show but it's still one of the best fights I've ever seen. But in movies recently, I did love Kill.... it's an Indian action movie that just came out and they literally fought hand to hand....or hand to fire extinguisher.. anyway, it was brutal af. I hope you check that out.
