Thanks for watching! I've wanted to make a video like this for a while!

In this video I will attempt to understand the dream that inspired Toby Fox to create his most famous works, and how these works are all connected to this dream.

Apologies for the annotations, I wanted to add some last second clarity.

SONGS USED:

SPOT THE FEMUR!!!!!!! (the voiceover being drowned out by the rest of the audio is actually an homage to Christopher Nolan movies)
  • Toby Fox is one of the few people who can truly say "It came to me in a dream."
  • I'm pretty sure the dream wasn't only a cutscene he had, but a lot of background knowledge of why the event in the dream was happening, I've had this before and I'm sure other people have.
Is possible that we need to experience Undertale and Deltarune to feel the same impact Toby felt during that dream

What would of society been without 2011 sick fox
  • honestly having to replay Deltarune with some characters remember more or less would be the hight of gaming. think about playing the game normal with some variations, or playing pure snowgrave and have Noelle remember all but still can't fight back and Ralsei having been complaint first time now fights back with Susie for control over the story from the player.
for me Skies Forever Blue have always felt like a warning to us about Noelle, instead of it being about her sister or anything else, maybe it was both about her and her sister and the two of them just have "player awareness" as some sort of supernatural ability

One thing I think should be mention about Ralsei is that his name's origin actually predate Asriel's. In an article he wrote for his Monthly Column in Famistu, Toby Fox's Secret Base, about how he used to make RPG Maker games with his older brother when was younger, he mentions how in these games he usually starred as a self-insert character named "Ralse." Not only that, but he then goes on to confirm that this is the how Ralsei got his name. Why I can't say anything for sure, but I do feel like this furthers the whole idea that Asriel and Ralsei are in some way connected or important to Toby's dream.
  • This was quite the insightful video. I always interpreted Toby's tweet as being more related to what would become Dark worlds as reality and dream seems to parallel the light and dark worlds, with the dark ones usually having very dream like properties. Plus the word shadow has a relation to darkness, and darkness is one of the core parts of Deltarune. But this interpretation of the tweet is quite interesting..

honestly, this makes me believe stronger that Ralsei is supposed to be the one going Weird in Chapter 1. By bursting Ralsei's facade wide open by letting Kris be just Free enough to screw things up, and then using that time of vulerability after a shattered facade to try to grab at Ralsei's freedom and twist it using his genuine care for us, the player...

I think Ralsei would kill Lancer in Chapter 1. Lancer barely plays a role in Chapter 2, and whatever role he plays, could just be failsafed by Ralsei explaining the Roaring to the Queen. Which would be plausible if he went Weird.
  • Toby fox has inspired me so much to create music and art. I’m honestly just beginning my love of learning full music, and even trying my hand at some art and game development. Toby fox has always influenced me as a child and I honestly wish one day I could build something like he has on the RPG game genre. I think Toby truly has made some great stories and music, all while making it funny and very meta. He’s also added so many real designs on how a players way of playing the game influences the world and it’s honestly amazing how nobody before him decided to do these things, but I guess that’s what makes Toby’s creations so unique, alongside the excellent world and music.

I have an observation to make about the prophecy and Ralsei, and on top of that, a question.

In the prophecy, it says right after it talks about the calamity/roaring that “*Only Then*, shining with hope, three heroes appear at worlds’ edge.” “Only they can seal the fountains, and banish the angels heaven.” “*Only then* will balance be restored, and the world saved from destruction.”

So, it sounds to me that the ‘*Only then*’ parts imply that these things can only happen when the roaring happens, meaning only when the roaring happens can we close all of the fountains, defeat the titans, and banish the angels heaven. And only when that happens can we save the world.

So, my question is, why does Ralsei Not want the roaring to happen?

He says multiple times that everything will happen exactly as the prophecy says “two heroes of light will arrive and fulfill the ancient prophecy foretold by time and space.” “A Journey foretold exactly by the prophecy.”

So, if what he’s saying is true, then why have us close the fountains prematurely and have us prevent the roaring, when it’s basically guaranteed by the prophecy that if/when the roaring does happen, we’ll just save the day and everything will be fine?

Why is he so scared? Is it one of those things where we have to sacrifice ourselves in order to save everyone, and he just doesn’t want it to happen?

My theory is that I think he was approached by gaster and proposed a new path, one where we don’t have to die (Jesus, talk about an Undertale reference) and so Ralsei had figured out a way to get us into castle town early and before the roaring happens, and because we (mainly us/kris) are the only ones who are able to close the fountains, we can just perpetually keep doing this every time there’s a new fountain, and Ralsei can keep fulfilling his purpose of making us happy and assisting us with each new adventure as we give him what he’s always wanted, friends, subjects, and a growing kingdom.

That’s my main theory, anyway 😅

Ralsei trying to keep you on the correct and intentional path reminds me how undertale fans would tell streamers that youre not playing the game right THIS is how you do it
