Setups for Turkey Hunting - How to Pick Out a Good Set Up When a Turkey Gobbles! #weeklywingtip

Published 2023-03-30
In this weekly wing tip, Edward talks about setting up for gobblers and how to select a tree. Sometimes in the moment, a turkey hunter must take what they can get, but making a quick judgment call on which tree to set up against can be very pivotal in the outcome of an approaching longbeard. Turkeys have a keen sense of hearing and sight and are constantly scanning their surroundings for threats and of course for the hen that is seeking attention. Sitting against a tree that shakes or makes the hunter uncomfortable can lead to a heartbreaking situation should the gobbler began to approach and pick you up.

Often times the surrounding area may not help to blend the turkey hunter in as well. Using natural brush to quickly build a blind is a tactic that every turkey hunter will eventually need to pull off. Having a durable set of cutters that are lightweight and rugged enough to quickly snap away a few limbs and make a natural brush blind will give turkey hunters the advantage over the sharp vision of a wary gobbler. Check out the Camo Cutters from Old Place Outdoors here and add a set to your vest for this Spring Gobbler Season.
