My parent's friends bought a new four door 68 LTD. It was a light green metallic with green cloth. 390 engine. I was 14 at the time and asked him what LTD stood for. He replied: "Long Term Debt".

I love the way the original commercial is included in the video. It really gives you a sense of the times.
  • I love these videos with commercials from decades ago!!!!! I love it!! These commercials are from the time when cars were shown as things of beauty. Not any more sadly.....

I graduated from high school in 1967. The cars of the 60's were awesome.

Great idea to supplement your feature with period Ads. Really brings back memories.

I own a beautiful 1968 Ford LTD Brougham four door pillar-less model. Gold with a black vinyl roof and black interior. 390 4V. A lovely car. I have always liked the Ford LTD models and decided to collect them when many did not appreciate how good a car they were. I am glad I did!
  • This was probably the prime era for full size, affordable American sedans. Powerful, quiet, comfortable, attractive examples abounded. These sedans were truly a "living room on wheels". Thanks for this video.

The fastback was such a great model!

"A great road car" and its offroading the whole commercial! They were great cars for sure. I clearly recall them from my childhood.

The hidden headlights make it for me. I would have chosen an LTD over a Marquis just because the front end to the LTD looked so much more elegant with those headlight doors.
  • My grandparents had a gold four door hardtop LTD with a 390. Over forty years later, I still remember that 1968 as the nicest car I ever drove.

This really is something. A classic shape and style. If only we had such beautiful cars on our roads now.

Dear old Dad was a Ford guy - bought a brand new ‘68 Country Sedan (no wood trim) with a 390 cid from Schaumburg Ford in the Chicago ‘burbs. Plenty of power⚡️⚡️⚡️

This add is so 1960s. From the music to the girls wardrobe says 1968. I was probably months old when this add was filmed. The XL fastback was always the standout.
  • The late sixties LTDs were great cars!! My dad had a 69 LTD Brougham with a 429 V8. It was the car I learned how to drive in & took my first driving test in. (I passed) Happy Thanksgiving Adam to you & your family!!! 🦃

My dad had a 1968 2 door, loaded, company car. First time we had FM radio, but we lived in the Hollywood Hills so reception sucked until you were in the flatlands of LA. My Grandma bought a new 1972 Galaxie 500 (beautiful dark green with gold flecks & white vinyl roof), which I took my driving test with. Loved those cars! Thanks for the great videos. Happy Thanksgiving.
  • When I was a child in 1970, most of my Matchbox cars looked like these cars. Back in those days, a car's styling was immediately recognizable. Nowadays, you can't tell one brand or model from the other until you see their insignia. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

1968 Fords loom large during my teenage and early adult years. The two door hardtop Brougham was a great looking car from any angle. The Country Squire was big but certainly not as big as they got to be, and very attractive, my father bought a brand new one in gold with a standard 302 and three on the tree manual. It spent many many miles carrying 5 band members and towing their equipment trailer.

I bought a 68 2 door LTD with the 390 a year ago and it really is a smooth ride. It turns heads everywhere it goes and everyone loves the hidden headlights.
