  • I feel for those young men who were highly recruited by other colleges, yet chose to attend JSU under Deion Sanders. They bought into his coaching them throughout their college career playing football for JSU! I wish him the best in his future endeavors. But, my heart truly goes out to those young men and I wish them much success.

My coach left after my freshman year of college back in 04. That’s why I tell kids, when you are picking a school, never base your commitment decision on the coach.

Deion's performance as a coach placed lots of pressure on other coaches to be better for their teams. Most of his students are better because of his standards. God bless him.

I love that he’s telling his now former players “you see your opportunity, you go for it.” People like to criticize players for transferring just as much as coaches get criticized for taking a better job.
  • The hard part for me, as a former player, is when you hear a coach repeatedly say "buy in" or "trust" the process/system. As soon as they get something better, they dip out. But they don't want you to do the same. I'm glad that he got his team to play hard and didn't sandbag games like Herman did before he left Houston, Freeze with Liberty and so many other coaches. I feel for those kids.

Somewhere is the Alabama St. head coach saying, “I told y’all, he ain’t SWAC”. 😂😂😂

CONGRATS to Coach Prime for what you have accomplished for Jackson State and guiding the student athletes to become better men. Thank you!

I feel for the youth, on this one… JSU family, don’t EVER forget coach Sanders’s teachings and energy. Take it on the field with you , ALWAYS!

My heart aches for the loss to the state, city, neighborhood, school, students, players and staff!! My prayers are with everyone including Coach and his family!! KEEP THE MOMENTUM JSU!!
  • I am a Career Coach at an HBCU and Coach Prime has inspired me do even better by our students. Not every student athlete is going to be a professional athlete, and even then there is life after sports. I respect Coach Prime for making a tough decision and being open with his players. There is a part of me that wants him to continue at JSU but he stated that he is being called for other things beyond this university. The microscope is going to continue to be on him but I believe he will rise to the challenge. Either way, I wish JSU and Coach Prime the best.

Great job Coach Prime! Thank you for all you did for the young men and the program! Best of luck in Colorado.
  • Congratulations to JSU on SWAC championship!!♥️💙 Thank you Coachprime for your hard work and dedication to this program and the staff. Super proud of this team! 🏆 🏆🐅🙏🏾
  • I wish Prime the best, but my heart goes out to the 4 stars (and the 5 star) that committed to Jackson State last year because of Prime's presence.
  • That's a classy way to announce it. Alot of coaches just take off in the middle of the night. Class act by primetime
  • JSU Alumni here (CO 97)...We will okay! Congrats to Coach Prime and every player that'll be fortunate enough to follow him to Boulder. He's given us 3 great years, Before coach's arrival, our players had to be bused to a local high school to practice. We now have an upgraded top-notch athletic facility and a new stadium on the horizon. Colorado...You are in for a treat! I'm officially a Buffs fan but THEE I Love my Dear Old College Home!!!!

I wish Deion Sanders the best in his journey regarding coaching. He is a brilliant man and hope he has success in Colorado

This hurt to hear. I’m grateful he was able to impact lives with his work at JSU.

Deon is a First class gentleman. When opportunity knocks you’ve got to weigh everything out. We are not in his shoes to FULLY understand. Coaches come and go at all levels. He was a gem while there, hopefully the next coach does the same. I wish nothing but the best for this program. Colorado now looks to be a better program. He makes change there he’s adding to those he has blessed in the past. Go BUFFS!
  • The historical black college community has been here many times before - watching 'the white school' poach the best of us. To the Jackson State family I say: your greatness didn't start in 2021 with Coach Sanders - It started in 1971 when you pipelined the best players to the NFL! Keep your head up Jackson State and just know that in New Orleans - we are proud of you and you will forever be our first cousin!❤️
