  • I asked my parents to buy this record for me when it was released. (I used to live in a small village far from record stores) The salesman looked at them and said "I can't believe that people listen to this". My parents were ashamed at that comment and never bought me another album. I'd say to this day that this album is in the top 10 of my collection.

"we didnt die, we never lived" thats such a powerful line, probably my favourite lyric of all time..

No matter how many times Varg says he never really wanted to be a musician.. he is a absolute natural talent for atmospheric stuff.
  • This is not music: it's an experience for the soul. Masterpiece.

Not many know that Varg asked Hellhammer to borrow his drum set for the recording of “Hvis Lyset Tar Oss”. As it happened. It is the same drum set that was used in Maybem’s “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas”. One big lovely family!

Considering he played everything himself, Burzum truly is remarkable

I just walked about 9 km through the woods along the river listening to this album with headphones. And all my problems of the day were left behind, depression was gone instantly, although the music itself is depressing

I've listened to it for 27 years . Doesn't get old. Awesome on rainy days.
  • I love how the majority of this album feels like you’re lost in a forest while you’re slowly rotting away and there is no way of getting out, but the last song is so uplifting and feels like there is a little bit of hope left.

Say what you want about Varg as a person, but you can’t deny how good this shit is

This album is the Father of atmospheric blackmetal!! Hails!

The first track is something else; it's like a journey through multiple eras of life.
  • @DelfinuNegru
I really like how the last track is the most calming, as if by now I went through the most brutal blizzard and suddenly it stopped, leaving behind a nice, lovely landscape. This is trully cathartic.

This album literally change my life and my view through music forever.
