The perfect blend between Black Metal and Folk, a masterpiece.

listened to the shit out of this album when i was going through a depressive slump back 2010. Ended sitting in the woods for 3 hours. Im much better now but honestly i miss being able to "feel" this type of music the way i did back then.

Ulver, windir, dissection, burzum, and various swedish folk songs. Name a better playlist for driving around the North of Scotland.

I have a soft spot for Natterns Madrigal but this, to me, is the hallmark of Atmospheric Black Metal. The sprinkles of dark folk give it such a heavenly touch. Many bands made came and gone, but none could emulate the magic. Thank you for this priceless gift Ulver.

I feel sorry for people who will never be able to "feel" this music. Sure, they can hear it, but they will never truly feel it like we do.
-
wow, finally some bass in black metal
-
One of the very best Black Metal albums.
-
I can never get enough of Ulver. Awesome riffs and solos, atmospheric layered vocals. Fantastic.

It's 7am and I'm listening to this while eating pancakes, couldn't be more perfect 😌
-
This album was way ahead of it's time. You can really hear how this paved the way for bands like Agalloch, Saor etc
-
This album is a monument
-
Can't believe Usher would make something like this, but i like it

The bass gives this album a very different character to a lot of old-school black metal. It crawls along behind the tremolo and blastbeats, adding so much sorrow and atmosphere.
-
This album is pure genius IMO. Dripping with atmosphere and a chill that makes me nostalgic for something I can't quite place.
-
Classic B.M. album. grow up with this, back in the days it was a very new sound. all the trilogy is perfect mix of black Metal ambient and Folk.
-
Probably one of the best debut albums ever recorded
