The defense attorney blaming the child and saying she had sex with her murderer pisses me off to no end. And then he had the audacity to complain about getting death threats, as if he didn't bring that on himself, but he can say that about Marissa, a CHILD like it's ok.

As a teacher I try to explain it like this: no child is ever responsible for the actions of an adult.

I wonder if Devon was sleep deprived. I’ve seen cases where people can actually hallucinate pretty bad without proper sleep. And he already stated he was running on no sleep.

The first story (Devin Williams), what a sad story. Seems like he had some kind of mental health episode. Maybe too many hours on the road, not enough rest...? I feel so awful for his family. And Marissa's story is infuriating. That poor girl. Any defense lawyer that blames the victim should be censured by the court (and a child cannot legally consent! Grrrr!)...

The way that defence lawyer spoke about Marissa is absolutely disgusting. Then he's crying over the death treats he's getting. What the hell did he expect from making statements like the ones he did.

It says a lot about the guilt of the suspect when his own lawyer can't present any kind of defense to explain his innocence, or something that suggests reasonable doubt, except to slander the young victim.

I swear to God. I live in Vancouver and never hear of these cases in the news other than blurbs, with certain info left out. I do stop to read what I can on local cases but it ends up being like that. So thank you for delving into Melissa's case.
