Hi. My name is Marlin :) I'm a cat....raised by dogs. And I think I'm a dog. I live in the Outer Banks of North Carolina with my mom, Caroline Jarvis, and dad, Mack Hopkins....and they are about to get married! I have 4 dog siblings - Buxton, Hattie, Shady and Buoy. They've taught me everything I know. My favorite things are going to the beach to go swimming in the ocean, jumping on the boat to go fishing, eating fresh seafood, and swimming in the canal. I'm pretty much living the dream! Follow @carolinejarvis on instagram to follow my adventures!

Marlin looking at his reflection in the water bowl thinking: I see no family resemblance, I wonder if they were adopted?
  • "This is our sibling Marlin. He may bark a little different, but that's because he is a European, we think." 𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭: Thanks for all the likes, ladies and gents.

These dogs are so respectful of Marlin's tiny size. Life is beautiful.

OMG, can’t believe a tiny kitten swims like a fish in the lake? The bravest little one! Bravo.
  • When Marlin realizes he has claws and he can climb things, he is going to think he has super powers!
  • "That day I looked into the water bowl and saw my reflection ... and I knew ... I was different." 💖 Marlin is sooo precious! 🥰

Something so spiritual when Marlin is loved by his dog buddies and humans. It makes the world seem like such a good place. Even I feel safer.

Marlin on his tippy toes drinking water from the water bowl (1:29 - 1:59) is soooo cute.

The best part is that he doesn't get lost in the open areas, sticks around with his family. Cats are impossible to contain. They usually disappear, hang around and come back whenever they want. That's why Marlin is such a dog.
  • Marlin is gorgeous & you will share such special memories. In 2006 I was on a motorcycle trip from L.A to Argentina. 1 month into the trip whilst in Mexico I came across a kitten exactly like Marlin. Given he was Mexican I called him Amigo & we travelled on the motorcycle for nearly 2 years sharing an incredible journey. I then brought him back with me to Australia. He passed away in 2019 & I was devastated but he was truly my best Amigo.

I adore the thoughtful nature of her dog siblings. Their gentle approach around her, ensuring not to step on or knock her over, is absolutely heartwarming and precious

I've raised 6 cats, many rescuers. Have never seen a cat that easy going with going in water, Amazing.
  • My favorite is when Marlin sees his reflection at the bottom of the water dish. He is probably thinking, "why do I look different than my brothers and sisters?"
  • I love how they include her like one of the pack. Careful not to run into her or knock her over. Totally cool with sharing their things.

Marlin is a lucky one. He has protecting siblings who will fight for him, he gets to go outside and see the world (and he absolutely loves it), and some other cats probably haven't ever gone anywhere further than their yard before. I hope he lives a long and good life

What a star Marlin is. Wishing him a long, healthy and happy life.
  • I like how all the dogs stay aware of where he's at, and be careful not to hurt him.
  • This reminds me of my cat, Dog Run, who was a feral cat born in the dog run of our house. The dog run was there when we purchased the house, and we did not keep our two dogs there. A few years later a feral mother cat had a litter of five in the dog run, and they were protected because my dogs were kept out. I fed the mom; she was so thin. After a few weeks she took four the kittens and left one behind. We named him Dog Run, because that is where he was born. After the mom left him behind we brought him in the house. My two dogs licked him and adopted him. Because he was raised by two dogs, he acted like a dog. He would come when called, eat with them, sleep with them and loved to be around people. He lived for 18 years. After my two dogs passed on he became friends with any new dog I brought into the house. He was my only cat and I still miss him.

It just goes to prove' You are a product of your environment. How adorable Marlin is!!!!!!

I once had a tabby kitten who was raised by our two cocker spaniels. And yes, the cat thought she was a dog. Watching this video brought back so many wonderful memories of the three of them. Chasing each other, dogs after cat and then cat after the dogs became a daily routine. Thanks for this wonderful video.
