Alternate title: How we shopped around to turn a 35k quote into a 5k quote transmission replacement.
  • @JohnnyHotspurGT
It's because everyone claiming transmission by VIN is full of shit in plain English, Bentley said the same during my GT rebuild, claimed the same for engine ECU'S, all BS, I have a 2010 Bentley GT Supersports engine, quick shift transmission with mechatronic inside, twin engine ECU'S, instrument cluster, all installed in my 2005 GT with a complete front to rear wiring harness from my 2006 GT parts vehicle, along with the KESSY module from the 2006 with the 2010 engine and transmission all working together, my turbos are from the 2014 Bentley GT engine I purchased before finding the Supersports engine transmission package. Don't always believe the dealership !

As a retired Auto Insurance Appraiser, I'd tell you to sell it. I dealt with many flood cars. The "fun" never stops.
  • You fellows still have the “golden touch” in my book. Although you lost money on this one, you were able to greatly minimize the loss with your tireless search for the right used parts. Well done in the end.
  • I bought a flood prosch panamera 4 out Florida in 22 and I strip it completely apart clean all the electrical components replaced some computers did some rewire and did and engine flush and got it running with no problem I love a flood ill do it all over again

Had a similar experience (of course not with a Maserati, but the gearboxon my car gave up and I was told the mechatronic is VIN specific and a used gearbox wont work. I asked for a picture of the nameplate my old gearbox and got a similar gearbox (matched to my nameplate) and the box worked without coding needed

Its sorted. Sell it. Get your money. Lesson learned.✌️

When you get a flooded car, first thing is to remove the battery/do not apply power to the car, you should change all the fluids, check all the computers/wires/plugs for corrosion and after that you may start it up. It may have corrosion issues come up eventually.

Mechanic here, I’d sell that car as soon as possible. You may lose money right now but it’s only a matter of time until the next issue pops up and as you can see the issues that occur aren’t ever cheap. Remember, at the end of the day a Maserati is just a fancy Chrysler. And you know how Chrysler is with build quality.
  • @windronner1
I was completely dumbfounded when someone with your experience would ever even consider starting. When I saw video. And the gods were smiling. LoL
  • @computercrack
i cant believe Maserati is charging prices like that! The transmission will cost Maserati like a 1000$ worst case, why not sell it for 5000 grand plus labor? nobody who had to pay this rippoff will ever buy a maserati again
  • @joeybaez1745
Keep it and injoy it , you guys worked so hard to get it running, great video and beautiful car
  • no...I drive a 5 generation quatroporte myself and nothing special has happened... the car has 240,000 km and drives and looks like new. In Europe, mercedes and bmw will be much more unreliable and even more expensive. in this case, when buying a car with possible defects...you have to be aware of it. the car is excellent and under no circumstances for sale💪

So sad to see such a GOOD LOOKING vehicle be a big piece of junk 😢. Can't deny its an eye candy.
