It's a Texas institution with a national footprint: a chain of road stop convenience stores the size of the Lone Star State, with a smiling cartoon beaver mascot and a devoted following. Correspondent Luke Burbank travels to Buc-ee's to find out why customers are so driven to visit. (Is it the award-winning bathrooms?)

Wow, a successful businessman who pays his employees well and is dedicated to providing quality products and service. Best wishes for his continued success.

I've been to numerous Buc-cees and the experience is like nothing else. The employees are incredibly friendly and welcoming, the entire store is spotless, the public rest rooms are terrific and the barbecue brisket sandwiches are to die for. Once you've been to a Buc-cees, it's close to impossible to see one and not stop there. Buc-cees is destined for world domination of the gas station industry.

It really hit me when he talked about not having to answer to shareholders and investors about cutting costs. It's so true. Many once amazing brands have had their value propositions diluted by overlord bean counters, and it's almost always hurt the bottom line. From Ritz Carlton to Staples to Kraft Heinz, there are just so many examples of this -- but very few business leaders in the publicly-held sector who seem willing to learn from it.

Never underestimate the power of cleanliness. Especially when it comes to restrooms, customers will go out of their way for a place that is comfortable and clean. That goes double for a world coming out of a pandemic. (And, yes, if you're a CEO who wants clean restrooms, you'll need to pay your employees enough to do a good job cleaning them.)

Sounds like Buc-ee’s has figured it out- run your own company with an emphasis on customer service and treat your employees well. Wish them much success! Can’t wait to go to one myself.

We love Buc-ee’s and we know we can always count on clean bathrooms, tasty food and unique finds in their stores. We’ll wait and drive 50-75 miles to go there vs. places along the way.

Living here in Texas, I’ve watched this franchise grow from those early days to today. It took one stop at a store and I was hooked . Whether you need gas or just a restroom break , you can’t help but stop there just for the food and snacks for that road trip. With all that “square footage”, there’s more in that store than food and snacks !!! The owners are the “poster child” for what these highway road stops should be like. It’s a win-win for “Buc-ees”, hands down!!!!!

Something positive, something optimistic, something unapologetically successful--man, do we need more of that!

It's really nice to see a privately owned business still spending money and investing in quality service in service and food for its customers and for its employees. We live in a nation where everything is being cut back, made cheaper, giving people less for more money. This business is built on the ethics that built this country and gave us a first world quality economy.

Stopping at a Buc-ee's on the highway is always a fun experience. The restrooms are always spotlessly clean. They have an incredible selection of food, snacks, and beverages. The employees are always friendly. This is a business model others should follow.

My only gripe concerns the customers who park at a gas pump and disappear into the store for an hour or two. Road trips mean being on the road, not waiting for a dozen people to load up with food and souveniers. Buy your gas which only takes a couple of minutes, move your vehicle, and then go inside.

We moved from Texas to east Tennessee and we are ecstatic that Buc-ee's is now in our backyard. Everyone we've talked to that has been to one of the new ones here in TN has fallen in love and people are driving SPECIFICALLY to visit Buc-ee's. I hope they continue to expand and grow and have continued success.
  • @jddoctorwho
LUV Bucees!!! Great to see them get national exposure!
  • @asphyxiafeeling
I wish them nothing but success. They treat their employees well.
  • Imagine every entrepreneur conducted his business this way. I’m hundreds of miles away from Texas, but visiting Buc-ee’s is now on my list 🙏🏽
  • @whizbang7130
On any Texas road trip, you gotta stop at Bucees. It's an experience. Sooo many clean bathrooms and snacks, great brisket sandwiches.
  • @bryans5339
I applaud this company for treating their employees so well. Other companies should watch this and take note. If you pay a living wage and treat your employees with the utmost respect, you will be more successful. I would weigh a ton if I worked there though. My lunch break would last forever!
  • Living here in Central Texas, Buc-ee's has become part of our family experience whenever we hit the roads in Texas. if there was a Buc-ee's on the way back from a Scout camping trip we'd always stop for the kids to get Icees and candies and I'd always get those hot candied pecans and a fresh cup of coffee ☕ And about once a week or so my buddy from work will stop at the one in New Braunfels on his way into work to pick us both up a Hippo Breakfast Taco : ) God Bless Buc-ee's!!!!!!
