i actually prefer a twin over a inline 4. love the sound and the down low torque.

My Sv was a 2004 full fairing with a power commander, full Yosh RS exhaust, K&N airbox, gsxr 1000 inverted front forks and clip ons. It was a powerhouse and would run all day at 80mph at low rpms. What a great bike.

I own a 2008 SV650S and it supposed to be my first bike..I still have it after 4 years and 20k miles. They are so much fun and reliable just great bikes for the buck. Thanks for the review.

Unknown Gem... I bought myself a new naked version SV1000 here in England for my 40th in 05 for £3999 brand new pre- registered with 8 miles, put an American M4 2into1 exhaust, and power commander with custom map and got 130bhp out of her, loved a 2rd gear wheelie that you could hook 3rd and land it at over 120... and could keep up with the R1s and Gsx1000s... Ahhh memories P.S. your 0-60 You only hit 7k in first, they rev to 11,500 🤣 High 2s achievable for sure... GodBless brother 🙏
  • Shifting at 8k in 1st & second? Come on bro, that 11,500rpm is hella fun

These bikes are so sick. I love the lower fairing. Wish the sv650 more comonly came with that fairing.
  • This was on my radar on my hunt for a bike. This, the superhawk, sv650s, fz1/6, and f4i. I ended up getting a vfr800. I bought a vfr because finding an sv1000 is incredibly hard to find! These are fantastic machines and I'd own one in a heartbeat!
  • These engines rev well and keep pulling to 10krpm. No point taking it to 11k red line as it drops off. 6 to 9 krmp is the sweet spot from memory. Tuned to 125hp at the wheel I cut 60,000 klm on mine. It was easy to service and never had a problem, still had the original battery when I sold it. Been on Phillip Island track twice ( suspension is one of its let downs ..... but only when pushed and easily rectified anyway). Great brakes, feel and power, still impressed years later. They're as much of a weapon as your ability allows.

Great vid. I ride a 2003 sv1000n, when I went to buy a 2004 sv650 the sales man said I’ll sell you a 1000 from last year for the same price. SOLD!!!
  • @mahamza86
This has been my first love when I started to look at sports bike. But it never made it to my country. So good to see your video.
  • @catalin1588
Old, yet they look sooo good. This design was so ahead of it's time...still looks fresh today, after 16 years! I have one in blue, the smaller sv650s but fitted the bug spoiler of the sv1000s, looks just like this one. I love it. Sounds amazing with the Arrow exhaust :)
  • @MrBigTexFyre
Bought that model when it came out new. Used it mostly to commute in the city (Houston) and it was great. I’m a big guy so I loved the down low torque. Great bike in its day.
  • @mcycleshawn
I used to ride my GS650 back and forth from Lancaster to Chambersburg weekly and I could not help stopping at M & S Cycles while out there. Fell in love with the SV and the Bandit. I could never choose between them so I stuck with the good old GS650G!
  • @jered2177
Suzuki uses this engine in the v strom 1000 also, good engine
  • The TL 1000 was the bigger, badder father of the SV but it got a bad reputation as a tank slapper.
  • Love your videos. Great work. I actually own a 2007 SV1000 that has 3/4 exhaust and intake with custom tune. Down here at sea level it only puts 65 ft/lb and 109 hp to the rear tire. Wet weight as mine is, 450 lbs even.
  • @DeathtrapCult
I had a 08' 650. It was exhilarating when accelerating because of the savage engine tone and torque. It would grab gears like crazy and pull you. Quite the experience
  • @aafe71
good bike...had two...one street one track, the track bike I had gixxer 1000 front end with upside down forks, radial brakes etc
