  • This didn't didn't ruin the magic, it made me appreciate the cast members in costumes even more!
  • @danielle9905
Mad respect to the actors in the suits! They have to dance and sync their movements to the audio.

Me only ever having gone to Disneyland Paris like 15 years ago: THE CHARACTERS TALK????
  • @featherpony
Dear Minnie Mouse: when you blink, your eyelashes aren't supposed to stay at the top. They move with the eyelids.

It’s always amazed me to see the technology that goes behind making the Disney characters come to life with a moving mouth and blinking eyes
  • 26-year-old me: (Watches video) "Hm, very clever technology." Animatronic Mickey: "Hiya, pal!" 26-year-old me: "OH MY F-ING GOD MICKEY TALKED TO ME!!!"
  • No, this never ruined the magic, magic is truee... It's within you... Disney always taught me to discover the magic within... 😇

The talking Mickey at the Magic Kingdom was amazing. The speaker was in Mickey’s ear. The speaking lines and reactions were pre-programmed and the character has to improvise their movements on the fly. This is because the person controlling those lines was in an office near Animal Kingdom, miles away. It was a beautiful system. Budget cuts killed it according to a trainer.

Knowing how it's done doesn't make it less magical, if anything, it makes it even more impressive

I remember seeing Mickey “talk” for the first time when I watched the premiere for World of Color. I was so impressed by it. It’s cool that Disney gave the characters articulated heads.

I don’t know why they don’t put Minnie’s eyelashes on her eyelids. Like why do they just stay on her face if you could just put some 3d ones on her eyelids?? That would amplify the effect a lot more as well!

They really look like artificial intelligence. They talk, blink, dance and everything like Sophia The Robot.

You know what's magic? Paying for $10 popcorn...pooof! Money gone! ...magic!
  • @LaMissa1
Knowing the technicality and how it works does not ruin the Magic actually. It just makes it more amazing to me! I love it!
  • @Squiggy8440
Honestly, tech is the most amazing magic there is, i mean, think about it, you have hundreds of wires, several fans, a mother board and an exoskeleton light enough to wear inside a large mascot head filled with felt foam and whatever else and the performers still do over the top choreography while having to keep time with the audio cues and have to make split second decisions if the audio or tech fails. I think that’s incredible!

I remember when Disney On Ice came to my city in Mexico, my parents and me were like this 👁️👄👁️ when we saw the masked characters talking
  • I use to work for disney for one of the performances....let me tell you walking into a room and seeing mickey/minnie’s head ON A STICK with blinking eyes and mouths is the freakiest shit ever
  • @AforAwesome3604
I got to meet a talking and blinking mickey a few years ago and I was amazed and I did think it was magic. I wasn’t even little, I was like 14 and I was still very wowed!
