  • This video took a huge amount of time to put together, but it was a lot of fun and I plan to do more Disney videos in the near future! Please subscribe and hit the bell if you want to see more videos about theme parks and engineering!
  • I remember they interviewed one of the engineers at Otis elevators for a documentary piece on the ride’s construction and he said “When Disney came to us and asked for an elevator that intentionally drops it was a real challenge because our whole business is making elevators that don’t”

me ( has to get up at 5 tomorrow) video (How Disney's Tower of Terror Works) me"i dont need sleep i need answers "

“If the ride was to have all of its safety features fail, you still won’t die” Lmao.
  • It's intersting to find out that my family and I were not the only ones who went on this ride with absolutely no knowledge on how the ride works. I'm Korean, and my family and I went on this ride in Disneyland Tokyo. We thought this was some kind of a haunted mansion, so we were expecting to see some disney ghosts. I was the only one who could understand Japanese, but I wasn't a navite speaker either, so it took some time to finally understand the explanation of the ride, and it was at the very last moment right before the drop sequence. I told my family, "uhh..they say we're going to drop." All of my family froze, and then...! Whoa, I'll never forget that experience. And from then on, I never go on a ride before I understand what kind of a ride it is.

Me: clicks on video with zero understanding on engineering Also me: nods head pretending to understand
  • @shiny2421
You know, as someone who has a fear of heights, understanding how it works, makes me feel more comfortable riding it.

My dad used to do maintenance for this ride in the 2000's and early 2010's. Interesting learning about the systems they had him maintaining.
  • Fun Fact: The rise and drop patterns when originally built was about a 1000 different ways. Years ago they somehow added more patterns, so the chances of you getting the same ride twice is very slim. Though one difference could be you get the top door to open for your picture or the 2nd (one undernearth). Perhaps you could be suspended for a second and have the ride shake. Regardless you can ride it over and over and it'll somehow be different every time.

I went on this ride 2 years ago, my parents just took us to the ride and I had no idea what type of ride it is, so imagine getting on this ride and being lifted up into the air, having no clue it's moving and then the freaking doors opening to show how high you are (I was confused) and then it fucking dropped into hell.
  • @dannytorres1211
When I got on I thought it was just one of those rides where you go around and look at things until I started to fall😐
  • @jadejohnson1295
I do really like the paris version of the ride with how they've recently changed it to slightly alter the story that the little girl who passes away in the elevator comes to warn you and try to help/hinder you from getting out, talking about how the creatures in the elevator haft have found you. Also great when it all goes quiet except for her and she says "they know you're here, whatever you do, don't scream" and then it immediately drops you along with laughter from the creatures, really cool addition!!

We went on this ride 1yr ago. We had been on most every other ride. We were looking for a short line and found this one. WE HAD NO CLUE what it was. My wife hates heights, and until we were in line, we then learned where all the screaming was coming from! It was amazing and all encompassing! Then when we fell, went back up, fell again and again, my wife lost her mind and I lost control and laughed so freaking hard! A memory that will last a life time! Such an amazing ride!

Nothing in Disney World is more than 200 feet tall, the reason why is because if they went any higher they would have to put a blinking light at the top of it to alert airplanes flying in the area.
  • @cooldude7151
This dude sounds like he engineered the whole ride 💀
  • @jevinday
Disney Imagineers are so freaking talented, it's truly remarkable what they've done, especially with their theme parks.
  • I went on this ride as a kid back in the mid 90s. It was incredible. Such an immersive, visceral entertainment experience. I appreciate it now even more, nearly 3 decades later for the engineering and planning of it all.
  • @Unownshipper
I love how much effort you put into the graphics, particularly in recreating the Hollywood Tower Hotel's exterior. A simple pink and red outline would've been sufficient, but you added details like the fire escape, the asymmetric windows, the dormers, etc. It really boosts the quality of this video.
  • @bonekichi7
When I first went on this thing my parents told me it was "Just an elevator" I foolishly believed them.
  • @llggh
I got stuck on that ride a few weeks back just as we had loaded the elevator for the drop component. We were stuck for 10 minutes in the dark before someone finally talked to us. Then they turned on the lights for another 15. We were finally told, sorry you have to do the whole drop sequence with the lights on. I've never rushed off a ride so quickly.
