All Kirito had to do was kill every member of Laughing Coffin.
  • There is also another thing to consider. Being a hero is not a title that once you've obtained it, its forever yours, no. A hero is the personification of heroism. Overcoming great challenges isn't the only thing that makes a hero. The key element of heroism is courage and overcoming the fear of failure. Apart from that, SAO treats all the side characters like tools or trophies for Kirito. Up until now, I'm still unclear what the archetypical role each side character has in the story, which usually branch out to their personal struggles and then personal growth. When we look at other successful stories/anime, we see that a hero's growth is not limited to overcoming challenges alone. There are many aspects of struggle SAO can focus on that Kirito has to overcome. Say for example, other than simply more power, he could probably improve his communication skill, after noticing how he was so used to doing things alone now suddenly with companions

"Very well said! Your words have made me way too emotional, I am now going to watch the abridged series now"

The anime tends to cut down a lot of context and content that greatly characterizes all of the characters in SAO from the Light Novel. Now, it’s a fair argument that not every anime fan should just book it towards the source material every time, but if we are to see Kirito at his full well-rounded nature, I do recommend taking the source material into account, as we actually see Kirito’s thought process a lot and show what type of person he really is. Kirito’s character stretches across many volumes (some not even translated yet) and it really just shows that he’s much more than just the hero archetype. I think one of the most interesting allures about him is the fact that he really hates the role of the hero, ironically enough. The anime kind of shows signs of this, but the inner monologues Kirito has within context with the light novels show that he feels he’s not worthy of anything like what a hero’s journey would entail. I do appreciate this video for what it is, but the anime barely cracked the surface on what type of characters these ones are.

Tbh, Kirito not being OP should be a positive considering how a lot of people who hate the show usually complain that he's OP. It's true that he overcomes the odds multiple times throughout the times, but most of the time he had his friends/allies giving him the extra push to prevail. Hell, in FD, he got helped from his sister & others in order to reach Asuna. Then, he had help from Kayaba dealing with Oberon. It's fine if Kirito gets help from his friends now & then; which is what I believe the ongoing lesson that the author's trying to teach. Btw, that's unbelievable that SAO's still the 5th most popular anime according to MAL. Especially with all the hate it gets.
  • I just want to see Kirito and his wife finally earn their Happy Ever After

Tbh. The moment that the tension of dying within the video game was resolved , 80% of SAO's conflict was resolved so you no longer care.

I never understood the hype about sao. The series has serious flaws, but maybe it was really appealing to ppl who werent familiar with anime yet. But im still thankful for sao because it blessed us with great songs and animations
  • @shana4803
well to be fair, Kirito never saw himself as a hero and it is really good that he cant face everything alone. Also it was really good aswell that he was put a side in the Mothers Rosario arc to give other character the spot light. The Sao community need to learn and must understand that Kirito is not OP or unbeatble and that is good how it is.
  • Season 2's incest arc ruined it for me. legit spent the whole season wasting time after season 1 set up so many good plot points.
  • @RedzuanCiLz91
5:10 Genesis qoute from Final Fantasy Crisis Core. Genesis Vs Sephiroth.. About SAO, i rather stick only season1, too much damage and i hate it, incest and harem mehhh..
  • @S7-.
do you know if there is going to be another season after war of underworld
  • Well... I think you get Kirito's failing hero thing wrong. The hero mith it's been just told in season 1. No need to repeat this. The thing that they tell us now, it's that no one is necessarily forced to be alone when confronting with bad things. Heroes need friends and allies. As do we need them. Yes, Kirito is a broken man, in more than a way. If we have endured what he have endured, maybe we'll be in that chair where potatoKirito was sitting during Underwar Arc... (And of course they have to show other main characters other than Kirito)
  • @hiroto_6124
this is painfully true... SAO is my fav anime that would always in my heart and I dont want to admit it, but I have to... even in war of underworld part 2 when Kirito wakes up, he need Eugeo to move forward and defeat the enemy... well, the story of SAO is not over yet so lets pray that in the end of the series, he can stand on his own feet and become the hero he supposed to be.
  • @hiunamto0313
I love SAO and this video explains the writing of the story and Kirito as a protagonist so well. Anyway time to watch that dungeon anime.
