It was a pretty bitterly cold weekend for us. But our friend ‪@WanderingWiley‬ didn't seem to mind as much. But then he is from Minnesota. We were so happy to finally get to meet up with Wiley in person and spend the weekend with him. He camped in his new Jeep with a rooftop tent while we stayed in our cargo trailer conversion. It was a great couple days (minus that cold) exploring and sitting by the fire chatting and even eating up some good food. A new to us campground, this is one of Missouri's free conservation campgrounds. Located just a few miles east off of Hwy 65 near Cross Timbers.

    Nice to get to meetup with a friend even though it was so cold. That rooftop tent is another nice option instead of traditional tent camping. Looked like a nice place to camp too and I bet it would be even better in summer.

    Am I weird that I enjoy camping in these colder days when the leaves have all fallen? Nice roof top tent. You're probably right, when everything is green I bet it's super busy. Hence why maybe I like the winter better. I like the solitude.

    Wow peace and quiet out there on this campground. Just the sounds of wildlife and cattle. It’s great to have time to appreciate nature outdoors. The river looks slow and lazy when it’s deep. Great reflections in the water. Bbbrrrrrr feel cold now you mentioned frosty morning 😃💙 Trev

    You'd never know it was so cold unless you said so ! Nice to camp with a friend in a quite camp ground. Your friend has a great set up that I never seen "up" before. I think it would be cool sleeping up high like that. No critters trying to get in your tent. Your burgers looked yummy :) Enjoyed watching and hoping your next destination is as peaceful as this one was 😊
