Ebiking Memory Lane - What's Left of OLD Greenville

Published 2024-07-10
Greenville Recreation Area where the I Ride Rendezvous was held, is actually the site of an old town. Old Greenville to be exact. The town encounter many flooding issues from the time it was founded. A dam was set to be put in and create Lake Wappapello. The town was then moved to a new location, but amazingly there is still signs of Old Greenville that exist today. Take this intriguing tour with us down "memory lane" and see what remains of this once flourishing small town. #campingvlog #travelvlog #ghosttown #missouri #historicalplaces #cargotrailer #cargotrailerconversion #cargotrailercampers #ebike #magnetfishing

So interesting to see all the history and remnants of the old town. Definitely looks like a nice Campground also.

What a cool campsite location! I love this kind of history lesson. there is a place like this up in northern BC that is a trail where a town used to be, and there are just signs to show where the building used to be. I love it, and enjoy walking the trail imagining what life was like back in it's day.

Pretty cool guys, love the signs and such for the buildings
  • To see this is so interesting. The before picture were great. Then to look up and see what it left was a wow factor. Thank goodness concrete and stones stay forever, it really helped picture where the building once was. To think it flooded more than once is really something. What are the chances of that kind of disaster happening more than once. Those poor people lost everything. Well I found this to be very cool and very interesting to watch. Thanks for taking us along😊

Cool tour of the area. I like the stairs to nowhere! That is almost as good as a bench looking at a wall of trees! LOL. Pretty neat to see the old ruins and where things used to be. The historical phots on the interpretive signs were pretty awesome. I'm surprised you stopped to read the signs. Too many words for me. I can count on Kristy to read them for me then give me the info. LOL. The mounting the horse block was pretty neat. Now if your horse will stay still while you try to use it! Dang, don't step in that hole in the sidewalk. Looks like an ankle breaker. That was a pretty good flood. Too bad only the foundations remain. It would be neat to see some of the buildings still standing. Of course you made it to the cemetery. Pretty neat. Have a great day.

This is really cool that they have all the placards there to tell you the story about the old town. I'm always fascinated when I find an old abandoned foundation and want to know what used to be there. I was thinking the same thing Jessie said, the lumber yard is there, it's just so fresh it's all still trees, LOL. I have assumed those Stile blocks were seats, but it makes sense to have a real sturdy step for getting on the horses. I did enjoy this trip down "Memory lane."

We enjoyed the tour of this historic ghost town, Felix and Jesse. We just went though heck with mosquito's, horseflies and black fly's in Canada for the last several weeks. 🤣🤣That's why I'm so far behind. Sorry. Never drink the tomato wine! Interesting to freeze and read about Sam Brown and we enjoyed seeing the old cemetery. Thanks for bringing us along.
