This brought back memories of 50 years ago when I lived and worked near Cook City and owned a property in Silver gate. Many memories of cross country skiing into the Lamar Valley and seeing winter wildlife. I'm 81 now and haven't been back since. I think I would be sad about how much it's changed in that area.

Good Morning Catherine. Staying put at some of these campgrounds is a good idea. Gives you more perspective on the area and saves on gas. Fall is around the corner which brings cooler weather, less flies and mosquitoes and beautiful colors.

Extending your stays to max allowed makes sense: balancing your movement, maintaining your wellbeing. We do the same thing where we go to a home base and travel outward then back to home base. I live in an inland bay in a very urban area. A coyote walked across the street in front of us and remained very close (<20') as we walked by on the sidewalk. Pretty cool. Nothing like you share here. Keep changing your approach to find what suites you best. We will be right here with you supporting you as you go. Thanks and keep sharing your amazing travels.
