How to cast a spinning rod and reel for beginners. Over the years, I've taught hundreds of Bass fishermen how to cast both spinning reels and baitcasters. Many novice anglers begin their fishing journeys with a spinning rod and reel. Why? Because it's easier to learn to use than a baitcasting reel. However, there is still a technique to it. In this how to video, I'll show you:
1. How to hold a spinning rod
2. How to position your casting hand
3. How to prevent mishaps when casting a spinning rod and reel
4. How to control your cast when fishing a cast with a spinning rod and reel

This video is meant for beginners. However, it may help some intermediate fishermen that have never had an opportunity to receive proper instruction.

Let me know what you think...
Also, I apologize for the slight sound issues. I was having problems with my mic.

I can't believe that I waited until I'm over 40 to start fishing 😩, I've been missing out lol. I love fishing now

That's a great video. I'm 58 and have never fished but just moved to a very sweet spot where I can do it every day. It's intimidating to have such basic questions and this kind of video helps make sure that the sport is accessible to as many people as possible.
  • Awesome... been fighting old mono all afternoon.... loops, twists, unbelievable stress... wasn't any relaxing in my world. Your video was beautiful. I suppose, I need to invest in braided

Read the title and was gonna skip this one for obvious reasons. Then I thought about it and called my son over and we watched it together so he could pick some correct technique. Thank you sir.

Growing up, I’ve always had a rod with an easy cast button on it. Your video helped me learn the other rod and catch a 13 lb catfish first day out 👍🏼

Started up 🎣 fishing. Haven't been since I was a kid fishing with my mom. Decided to buy a pole yesterday on her birthday. She would've been 85yrs. old. I think she's trying to tell me to find simple joys in nature again... who knows, but I will always think of her while I'm on the water. Thank you!

This video contains important information. I learned from it and I have fished for many years. That part about Opening--The--Bail--Away--From--You was a revelation that many fishermen will benefit from. I never even heard of that before, and some of my casts lead to entanglements that I never quite understood. You one smart fella Chuck Pippin!
  • very professional and mature. no begging for likes and subscribes and shares ... this is what we should have on youtube

Thanks for the tips, just bought my first ever fishing gear and going fishing now for the first time, will be uploading my results on my channel too, fish on amazing people.

This is probably the most detailed video I’ve seen on YouTube, especially for a beginner like myself 👍🏿

I don't usually comment on YT videos, but thanks for posting this. I figure a lot of pro's wouldn't feel like they're really doing something worthwhile introducing people to what could be seen as a ubiquitous sport, but I think you just filled in some of my blank spots in learning. I just started at 40, much like a few of your other viewers. I'm looking forward to getting better a tall of it.

Very nice Chuck, been up in the NW for 30 years with fly rods, great video, back in the south and your video is very helpful, just getting back into the spinner casting environment. Greatly appreciated, nice video. Thank you JAK
  • Excellent no nonsense video! Thanks I especially like the idea of releasing the bale away from you.
  • @thedesertrat
I started fishing very young but stopped about 12yrs ago. All I used was a basic closed reel rod. Thought I’d try something new like this spinner style. I found this video to be highly informative and very easy to follow.

Best and detailed presentation and information for a beginner. Thank you! Really loved it! 🙌🏻✨.
  • @BeckVMH
Thanks for addressing the manual release of the bail after casting 4:45. Folks seem to not clarify that technique or why manually doing so is beneficial.
  • @mike1983mn
I loved fishing as a kid but used a closed face reel back in the day. I’m planning to pickup the hobby again this summer after 30 years and appreciate the pointers on how to cast a spinner reel.
