DONT run this oil in your NV5600!

Published 2022-09-07
Redline oil makes perfect fluids for just about any transmission- theres somebody out there advising for the wrong stuff. DONT put lightweight shockproof in your synchronized transmission. Find out what Redline actually recommends and follow it- I promise it will work excellently.

I’ve ran Amsoil’s MTF for 180K . No issues so far but I do agree that Redline makes a great MTF as well.
  • Man I wondered why my nv 5600 just started grinning like every gear I've been running this oil for a year now looks like I'm yanking it gr

You dont run gl5 in a trans because they normally contain additives that eat brass. GL4 is prefered, I use Redline MTL which has a viscisity similar to a 10-30 oil.

  • Thanks for the useful info…what oil do you recommend using in the transfer case that’s used with an nv4500

My local transmission shop told me to use ATF-2 in my NV4500 🤷‍♂️ Since the Syntorque is unavailable…. I think I’m gonna use Redline MT-85

What do you reccomend for a stock NV5600. cureentlu running a SB dual disk. Shifting is fair except at higher rpms.
  • i put redline mt 90 in my nv4500 after a fresh rebuild because i couldn't get the 85. do you think this will cause problems for me? driven around 5000 miles with it and it seems fine but also it does get cold where i live so maybe i will notice things then.
  • I just bought a 2006 cummins I want to say it has the 5600 manual trans if im not mistaken. It has a dual clutch setup but sometimes it will not go into reverse; I can pull on lever as hard as I want but won't go in..... or forward for that matter..... but if I turn it off it will. Any Idea? Truck will be pulling nothing but heavy gooseneck trailers what oil would you recommend to fill it up with?

Do you guys have any contact info? I’m located in the PNW as well and I’m have troubles with a 5600 and I was gonna attempt to rebuild it myself but I’ve been looking to ask someone question before I do.

Hmmm, I wonder if oil choice is why my 4th gear got worse after a transmission oil change. 😢 It's a Clark CL455 in a 1896 Ford CF7000. I did a video of it https://youtu.be/I2BEGh7Pxo4 (go to 14 minutes) but I think it's R-1 2-3 and 4-5 ... When I got it, there was water contaminated oil and 4th worked until you let off the throttle and it would jump out. Changed the oil and now it will shift into 4th but jumps out with any force applied forward or downshifting. Gonna try cheap Pennzoil next. It takes about a gallon I think. 🤔 Glad I found your channel, gave me something to try. I'd at least like to use 4th...
